I wonder how much losing to USC by 31 points three straight times factored into this decision.
probably a lot..........savor the flavor Viva, it may not last! :the_finge
I believe our complete ASS Kicking of notre dame saturday was the final nail in the coffin.
Man was it fun looking @! all the domers after the game!! :the_finge

His player decisions are amazing too! Every year we have a quarterback and runningback controversy. In his first year he made the great decision to bench All-American Billy West because the idiot missed practice once a week to go to class! The gall of some players, putting academics ahead of football. The man was born to coach football! :cussing:
Mixed around campus. For me it's hard to decide between Ty's classiness and the record. The recruiting was hurting though. Disclaimer: I don't know much about FB.
Schwew, between that and the Ebersol crash :frown: this place has had some news.
why, is the campus admin worried NBC's exclusive coverage of Notre Dame's decade long football program implosion being in jeopardy?Quote:

It may be more mutual than we all think. I read today (I think on BlueandGold.com) that the Willinghams were unhappy in South Bend and were alreadly looking elsewhere earlier this year.
I'm torn too between Ty's personality and his record (and some coaching decisions during games).
So what do you guys think, can ND make a BCS bowl while still upholding academic standards, playing as an independant, and keeping our traditionally strong schedule full of classic rivals? Those are three things I am proud of, but I don't see any of them helping matters.
Scoober, I think it will be very difficult. However, I also think players will be more apt tocome to ND for a coach like Mayer. If ND lands him, or even Gruden, that may just be enough.
But maybe not.
In short, I don't know.
But I am excited.
Why mr_g what a nice comment for you to make.Quote:

Scoob - I would say the schedule is a bit painful but I don't know anything about conferences... Say they were in the Big 10, could they still play such teams as USC?
Thats what I said. Go here if you don't believe me --> http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...n+Meyer+reallyQuote:

I was very unimpressed this past week. Mostly from the ND players' demeanor. I had a good view of the ND bench and lots of players were fucking around all game. Also, one of the damn punters was kicking the ball at the SC players when they ran onto the field at halftime. Not that's class. You're playing the number one team in the nation and your most hated rival in probably the greatest rivalry in sports, wake the fuck up and take care of business.
Typically a conference team will play 10 or so conference games, and 1 or 2 outside conference games (depending on number of games in a given season). So if ND was in the Big 10, they could play probably 2 other teams at the most.Quote:

That's about the extent of my BCS knowledge. Physics is actually easier.
there seems to be a lot of negativity from ESPN et al. about this.......I wonder why?
It seems to me that anyone who understands how things are supposed to work in South Bend should not be suprised.
he was successful at stanford so obviously admission standards are not an issue.
what the hell would possess someone to leave Stanford for ND is beyond me.
this from someone that once left CO for Chicago
His Stanford teams weren't that good.
With TW's firing, half of the black Div. I coaches have been fired in the past month or so. Maybe that's why E$PN is all over it.
Anywho, Notre Dame made the right move. After three years, things should have been improving, not getting worse.
Man, I'm all over the place on this one.
As a Utah resident, I'd love to see Urban stay.
As a former South Bend resident, I think he would be a great fit there, and would do wonders for the ND program.
And as a University of Florida grad, well...our team needs a coach too...
I of course would love to see Urban stay, but I think this is the ticket he's been waiting for. He's gone I think.
