Not too shabby...
Unfortunately it seems the main band of snow is pulling up south, damn Strüdel eaters...

Oh yes, it's finally pouring after all this time :)
low pressure system coming our way, setting down sunday evening and leaving maybe thuesday down to the mediterranée sea.
Sounds/smells/looks good :)
<edit>
just had a mail with the last forecast news. looks like the lady is weaker than expected, and weakening. She'll be here tonight but should pour at least half what snowforecast forecasted :(
</edit>
The Situation is pretty complex..
Genua(yeah right maybe the city is called differently in english but im not searching for the correct term now ;) ) Lows tend to form pretty unpredictable.
it looks like some snow is coming down along the southern Alps, but it's not clear where the most. I hope Alagna gets its share....
The tendency looks moist until friday, but still only in the south. And all the snow in the Northeastern Alps will melt up to at least 1500m. But rejoice ! the rest of the northern Alps wont receive anything new either :(
Generally the snow levels will be lowest in France/Swiss/Italy.(unusual..) But we need several massive STorms more to fill in the gaps.. :(
here some other predictions

wait for it to load and press play.
excellent weather site. i'm adding it to my arsenal. how reliable/accurate do you find it to be? snow-forecast can be a bit too optimistic at times.Quote:

plague, alagna will open in any case on the next saturday with 1 or 2 days with FREE access to the new funifor... but one have to pay for all other lifts.... so what's the deal ? :mad:
funny how the most low tech source is the most accurate. :cool:Quote:

I really do not know who and where releases it, but it's by far the most accurate forecast for the verb area. It's prolly made by the low valais section of meteosuisse, but I'm not 100% sure about it
DOOD! it's gonna be a banner year! :DQuote:

I have to remind you of what you declared to me last year as we rounded the Lac to pick up teleAl. "The glory days of the Alpes are over!"
At the time, I was slightly bummed upon hearing it. I was a debutant. Now, I am a believer, too! :wink:

so far, looks like nothing serious went on low valais. Which does not drives me crazy yet, because I will leave for a week in US on thursday.......
The problem with all Model Outputs is the fact they cannot measure accurately how the clouds hit the Mountains. Generally they tend to exaggerate the ammout of snow. Well acutally they can not calculate how it compacts and how the mm of moisture transfer into snow...
tHats why they allways have these huge ammounts of snow in the flatland.
generally snow forecast can be quite reliable when the situation is not too complex.(normal nw weather pattern)
The other model is some sort of experiment of transfering the GFS Computer(that is the reason why snowforecast is sometimes wrong.. GFS has a much larger scale) data into a lower scale model which simlates the mountains more accurately. I actually dont know how reliable it is.(especially since it is forecasting a very large difference of new snow in a small distance) but i found out that it can simulate very strong precip occasions quite accurately. (last year.. or 2 years ago...?? it forecasted 100-150 cm of snow and 2 days later the slf confirmed that they fell south of andermatt)
