My Krypton Pro sizing issue

OK.....I know this subject has been posted before, shot to death, bludgeoned with a shovel, and then set on fire, but I have to make a decision for this soon, so if you have some Krypto pro sizing info, It may be useful to me.

I ordered a 27.5 after shell fitting and everything, but I guess my brain saw them fit differently that day, because when I shell fit them again once they got here, it seems as if it could be a bit long, I do have at least 3/4 of an inch. The shell fit on the 26.5 is tight, maybe half a finger, but seems managable after some work.

I wear roughly a 10.5-11 Street shoe, would have some ALine footbeds in there, which would pull my toes back a little bit. Also, for you guys that have punched the toes on your kryptons, how much plastic is there to work with? I really feel with some work (and pain) a 26.5 would be the tits after a while and my foot wouldn't be going anywhere.

I've never skied in anything smaller than a 27, but they always seem to get swimmy after about a season. So, to you lime green boot wearing folk, is going to a 26.5 overkill for a size 11 foot, or will it be worth it?

I'm in the same boat as you, 27.5 Kryptons and wear a 10.5/11 street shoe also right on the edge of going down to a 26/26.5 shell. I had to put ankle pads on the liners to keep my ankles locked in, after the ankle pads they we're tits. Three seasons about 120 days so far on the ID liners and they have got the job done, That being said if your willing to get the work done I'd say try the 26.5's, I would like to give that size a try I just can't afford another pair of boot's.

there is a ton of plastic to work with. you could probably punch and grind the volume inside up almost a shell size if you really wanted to.

Wow...you guys really like your boots TIGHT....im an 11 street shoe and id go with a 28-28.5 krypton. Hell im in a 29 Titan....i was never a racer though...maybe thats it.

Ended up opting for the smaller size, 26.5, I have some great bootfitters around, and in the end, it really wasn't that small, just needs a big toe punch, although in warmer weather I could ride them as they are.

I'm fAACking pumped.

3/4 inch = 15-20mm (not sure how big 1/2 a finger is) but that is too big and one shell size down = 10mm smaller = about right.

try the 26 on, with an old liner, to see how it might feel later.

I'm a size 10 street shoe and I got the 25.5 Krypton Il moro's, they do have heat molded liners which probably allows me to get into a slightly smaller boot but I do agree that they run big. I would definitely try to go smaller.

Similiar sizing step down on the size on the shell - I'm between a 8.5/9 US and am in this year's boot 25.0 shell with no issue. There are many thread floating about this on the site on this subject.

Can you provide some more detail on the ankle pads? Is this something you made yourself? Do they go inside or outside the liner?

Tried measuring several fingers around the office, assume anterio-posterior (top-palm side) rather than side to side, since that's the way we get them down in the heel, and last (smaller) segment since that's what is hitting the footbed. Average was 17.5 mm. Lot of variation. So half a finger would be pushing 9 mm on average. Not much.

Which makes me curious about how pros measure this. Heel on a shell tends to swell backward from heel base, then come in again. So putting a pencil, metal tape etc. is pretty inaccurate since it'll be angled. Is there a special tool or is it supernatural?

I use a pen, or a dowel, that is 10mm. Have the toes lighty touching the front of the shell, with footbeds, flex forward, and see if the 10mm dowel will fit behind the heel.

It is just a starting point, and just one measurment, and varies from person to person. Some customers can use a 3-5mm shell for touring, some need 15+mm for daily use (claustrophobic toes?) I can't feel what they feel, and just have to inform them, and see how it goes from that point.
in GENERAL, most people are in boots too big, and too stiff so I try to downsize a bit more

Thanks for all the responses dudes...went to the shop,again, today and tried on some 26.5's (shell and reg. fit) and came to the conclusion that that's the route I'm going to go.

Only real concern I have is around the top of my 4th metatarsal on each foot. It's a rubbing type feeling, doesn't feel like curled toes or anything, but not really sure what's causing it. --PAGING BOOTFITTER--

Either way, definately going to be an uncomfortable break-in, but I feel from a performance standpoint, I'll be loving life on the hill. Just need to find a good bootfitter now.

feel the same with thick and thin socks?
with stock, custom, and no footbed?
same with the boot flexed and upright?

Tried on with thin socks, stock footbed and felt the rubbing a little bit more when upright than flexed, really wish I had my footbeds with me at the time but just happened to drive right past a shop on the way home from work.

They are self adhesive pads that you put on the outside of the liner. Similar to the ones sold here.

Odds are it will be fine start with a even thinner sock, your good footbeds, and as you flex the boot your foot pulls pack, you should be fine. As the boot packs out this will happen more and more, and the pressure should get less and less. Your footbed will help to pull your foot back too.

If you do need it, just get a small punch/grind done in that area.
