The Arlberg, Engleberg, Andermatt, Davos, Engadine... The options are endless from Zurich. I know the typical french alps destinations are far from Zurich, but I would argue all the bigger snow places are reached via Zurich. Someone should take advantage of this. I'm looking forward to my 2.5 weeks over there during Xmas/New Years!!!

Engelberg and Andermatt are definitely on my 'must do' list. You planning to hit them up over New Year?

BTW - Zurich to Chamonix is still only the same driving distance as San Francisco to Tahoe. No biggie.

Actually if you include my week in Utah for the mini its 3.5 weeks :biggrin:
This is the single best part about being a student.

Unfortunately not gonna hit either. We are in St. Anton for a week and then with the inlaws in Serfaus for 10 days. Planning on making it to Ischgl during that week because I was never able to check that out...

There's a chance I'll be around the Arlberg or Paznaun valley the same time, gimme a shout when you take off.

Galtuer is the favourite launch for the Silvretta huts but the local off-piste is just not crowded because it's pretty limited.

Plenty of goods to be found off the top two chairs at Galtur and because you go in opposite directions it's easy to get untracked.

those are damn good fares. but will anyone come with the dollar in its current condition? how are you brits faring? how does a USA trip vs Alps trip compare money-wise?

Last year was the first time I ever paid less for a lift pass in the US than I did in Europe. This season it's the same story. A six day pass for Alpe d'Huez works out at £7 more than a six day pass at Jackson (thanks to those good folks at SkiSafari).

Flights are pretty good value too. Nothing beats La Grave though.

Not that plenty really, during holidays that gets tracked out within a.m. or a day at a max. But anyway.....

I'll be in Andermatt Dec 27 - Jan 2.

I may rely on SBB to try to get to Engelberg for the day as I'm without a car over there.

There are students who work for their money... I start saving money in September(better: right after my surfing trip ;) ) to afford my ski trips....

Check yahoo travel (aka travelocity, but yahoo is 5 bucks cheaper). They seem to still have <$500 tickets to Geneva but you can't be too picky with dates.

Oh thanks! I didn;t enter dates and saw those...yeah most of the dates don't work (Dec 26-Jan 3). Will keep checking it out.
