Interesting side note
One day at work this fall, I looked out the window to see a huge bull Elk (6 or 7 spike) cut in half laying in the back of the CO's truck. My office is next to the local butcher. Anyways, this women that I work with comes in the office and says that there is a huge deer in the back of this truck. She just moved to Fernie from Vancouver, go figure :D

Sweet. My friend scored an elk draw near Nelson this year. Now his freezer looks like yours. The elk bratwurst was excellent.
Elk burgers are so good with a little bacon and cheese.

I killed a 15+ point ELK
Simply put;
I was ‘crusin’ a 24’ bobtail on I 90 on 73miles of ID.
Not only was I driving, I was dreaming.
I dreamt that if I didn’t quit looking for satellites I might hit a deer!
Once recovering into a situational awareness,!...
I see a fuking huge world class 15+ trophy of an elk. The beast was taller than the Top Kicks grill! Its Just standing in my lane confounded by my head beams!
I stand on the breaks, make the sign of the cross, flash the lights and, at last resort (don’t ever )HONK THE HORN!!
Sure enough, the big boy ran into an on coming, shiny new tanker, hauling ass the other way! sad :(
A super sick red cloud of exploding elk rack bummed me out!

I have a friend who is 6 for 6 on elk. I love the fact that I get to eat the meat of the animals he shoots. Bummer is he moved to Montana so no more for me.

No, the vermin have not arrived in the valley bottoms yet. With only 2 days left on my limited entry tag I figurred I better go find one if they were not going to come to me. I went up Mt. Elk tases like, well, elk. A bit like moose, not too much like cow and not as gamey as deer :shrug:. No, it does not taste like chicken. The cuts are similar to deer only bigger and more of them.
I've got 4 top sirloin steaks defrosting on the counter for dinner tonight. <wipes drool off keyboard> Mmmmmmmm, BBQ elk steak.
