Its been two months since I've been out here, and I need to find a primary care physician. Anyone care to share a good recommendation for someone in the Sandy area? Gotta go in for a checkup, plus I've got some knee pain which I suspect might be a strained MCL that I want to get checked out ASAP.

keep the fluid out of the knee. anti-inflams, ice and a little rest. after 48 hrs you can move on to contrast. hot,cold,hot,cold ect. always end on cold.
i don't know about doctors around here, but i'm sure someone on here does.
Mr.AG and I have been going to the Hidden Valley Family Medical Center. It's actually in Draper - like 12300 South and 1000 East? 801-572-3750. Just regular family practice thing - but they have X-ray facilities and all that type of stuff there. I've just gone for minor things and referrals.
For orthopedic stuff, we go to Alta View Sports Medecine - which is in the Life Centre Building next to the Alta View Hospital. 801-571-9433.

I went to The Ortho Specialty Hospital(TOSH) in Murray for my MCL. Same place altachic had her knee redone at. Don't have the number handy but I got in super quick with the resident for Dr. West, and the dr. wasn't a much longer wait.
Hugh West fixed my ACL up nice. I'd recommend him for knee things.
Holy shit Towelie! Dude, I hope you get that knee sorted out quick. On the bright side, my more major MCL tear last fall only impaced my early season.

Thanks for the recs. guys and gals, and thanks for the well-wishes NHTele. When I woke up this morning and walking was still tough, I was a bit freaked out, but as the day has gone on the pain has subsided quite a bit, so I'm feeling less worried. It feels alot like when I tweaked the knee a little last April at Jay, and that just took a few days of rest to clear up.
Theres no bruising in the area yet, and at this point it feels pretty good, although still a bit achy when I walk around for awhile. The fall I took was pretty massive, and I'm sore all over, so I'm trying to sort out what aches are related to what. Isn't it possible that the knee is a bit achy as a result of hamstring and quad muscles being pulled or aggravated and not supporting weight correctly? Sorry if thats a lame question, but I'm a knee-injury JONG.
I'm still gonna head in early this week (if possible) to see a general practicioner and talk to them about it, and if necessary see an orthopede, but otherwise hopefully a day or three more of rest and ice will do the trick.
Also, anyone know the whereabouts of free swimming in the Sandy area? I could use some more low impact cardio exercise.
edit: story about the knee I'll keep short. was skiing the cirque on friday, entered kind of high, got a few good turns ,then it kind of choked down, and i pointed 'em. got about 2/3 of the way down the apron doing mach whatever when i lost an edge on the left leg, completely lost it, and rag dolled 3 or 4 times. :nonono2:
For swimming - the Dimple Dell Rec Center (I think that's what it's called) over on like 10600 South and maybe 600 East? If you drive by you can't miss it - it's a huge complex on the south side of the road. I haven't been in there myself but have several friends with families who go there because it's cheap for the pool. Worth checking anyway. We belong to the 24 hour fitness and use the pool there.
Glad to hear that it doesn't sound too serious. I'd say if it was just feeling sore and strained vs. unstable/catching/locking/loose it probably isn't too serious. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed!
The tell-tale signs are a lack of stability and swelling. If it's not swelling much, hopefully you didn't do your ACL. Don't bother with the ER, as they can't do anything except to rule out a broken leg. Go see a good orthopedic surgeon, and he should be able to tell you with one tug whether you blew it or not.
Just wanted to give a quick update: leg feels good, walking and pivoting is all almost back to normal. Theres some tenderness on the outside just above the kneecap when I palpate the area- is that the lateral collateral ligament? - but otherwise I feel good.
I totally freaked myself out reading stuff on the board about people's experiences with the ACL - stories about how people didn't hear a pop, finished their run, felt normal, and then found out the ACL was toast are really hitting home. Ugh - I wish it wasn't Sunday.

I went to the Hidden Valley centerto that the AG's refered too...good as any for general practice. Its on 10th E just of 123'rd S. Turn N off 123S just past the Kmart and its on the left about a block up.
The same thing happened with me. It took me about 3 days to sort out what where the pain in my leg was coming from since my fall was pretty massive as well. I think I had a pulled hamstring, and groin in addition to the mcl.Quote:
