Helmet Recommendations?

So here is the deal, last season I completely destroyed my old pro-tec helmet on a fall that broke my back, and luckily, not my noggin. I am back at it this season and I need a new helmet but I am not sure what to buy? I have also been wondering if I should get a full face helmet or a regular helmet? I cannot decide and I am going skiing at Big Sky this sunday, although I may not need it on sunday it would be nice to have something soon. Well, any advice would be helpful, I am completely lost on this issue. As for how I like to ski, if that makes a difference for what helmet I need, I like to go fast, and I like bombing in the trees.

I rather enjoy my giro canyon. But I got it on sale, and it fits my head perfectly.

I love my Giro nine. It's been super sweet. Also has removable plugs so you can take them out to vent when it's super hot. They are on sale right now on www.sierratradingpost.com

I like my Giro 9 nine also. I do like the look of the Ovo helmets though.

Full Face? - Not unless you are going huckin big and you are worried about your chin bashing into your knee.

I picked up the Giro Fuse last year and really like it. Lightweight, and a cool little switch that opens and closes the vents. Phunk is right, don't buy until you try it on!

I tried on lots of helmets, Skied with a few, then I bought a giro fuse. It's really light and comforatable. Don't buy untill you try. Great price at Siera Trading post though.

i like my giro.9 as well, it fit my noggin better than the fuse, so try before you buy. also noticed alot of fuse helmets with broken goggle retainers, not crucial but looked like a common problem. K2 also makes some comfy helmets.

Giro Fuse is really good light weight and the venting is definitely required.

i've got a pearl colored boery myto air that's collecting dust. about 2 years old...if you decide you want a boeri i'd get it to ya for cheap.

Apparently my head is shaped like nobody elses in the world. Anything Giro I ever tried on felt like crap. In fact, the only helmet I've ever worn that's fit relatively well has been the Salomon that I currently own. So, short-story-long, try them on and get the one that fits. They're all gonna be pretty similar as far as protection.

I'm going to ski in a football helmet this year.

Always go with fit before fashion. Fore to aft fit is better than lateral. Unless you have a wider head than long.

Some helmets don't fit all heads so even if the price is a bargain, don't chince away quality for saving a dollar.

I use the protec. Why not check into another since you were wearing one when you exploded? They now have removable earpieces and a great fit for big heads like mine. I bought the white/camoflauge design because it fit my head the best of the others. The design isn't supreme but the fit is.
