but to you utah folks is this place worth a trip. I know about

Slow lifts, not really that much 'steep stuff' as Bird/Utah (as I've understood it), but still plenty to play with. Stays untracked for days, cause theres virtually no crowds, so a very good location a couple of days after a huge storm.
I was there the last day of the mini last year.. I think in total I've seen about 30 people throughout that day.. It was fun!
How flat are we talking?

good vertical, good snow, not so steep but it ,makes up for it with no crowds and not tracked out...its a fun mtn to get lost on...you can also take a sled into the backcountry for 10-15 bucks, not to mention take some lift served backcountry runs back to a road that a shuttle bus will return you to the mtn from

-: slowest lifts I've ever been on. By the time you get to the top you'll need a shave. Chair 4 at Kirkwood is the frickin' Space Shuttle compared to Hidden Lakes.
Worth a side trip if you've got the time, but don't pass up anything in SLC (or Snowbasin) for it.
It's a fun mountain, but I wouldn't fly in from Japan to ski it. :rolleyes2
Stick to the bus runs on the Sundown side of the mtn. Lift is relatively short so the ride ain't so long. Buy a PM half day and you'll get as much untracked vert as a day in a heli for only $29. The cat served terrain is steeper than most of the mtn, $7/ride (you can skin the same distance in ~15 mins.). It takes you up 500' of vert and than you ski down to the paradise lift (2500' of vert). Stay away from the hidden lake lift, reeeeaaaaalllllyyyyy ssssslllllllooooowwwww and the terrain off that lift is too flat for serious face shots. Between the Paradise lift, Sundown bus runs and the cat served terrain it's definitely worth a visit (will stay untracked up to the 1st Saturday after a storm).
