Can I state the apparently (un)obvious?

This could be my first political post, and it may be my last since, frankly, I get enough debate in the real world to cover me.

Just so you know where I stand, I voted for the loser, as did many of you here. There seemed to be an overwhelming amount of reasons to get Gdub out of office, yet the majority of americans didn't see it that way.

Here is where my rant starts, it seems that the sentiment here is that those who voted for bush are stupid, ignorant and uneducated. Get a grip people! They have different beliefs, they may have different goals, but do you honestly believe that everyone who voted republican is stupid? I know plenty of well educated, super informed people who voted for the incumbent. They know the facts but for one reason or another chose the wrong guy. This is one of the problems we face in this country, if you don't believe like I do, you must be stupid. Doors close, people stop listening, end of exchange of ideas.

Could not agree more. Ironic that the supporters of the party that stands for tolerance display absolutely no tolerance for people who believe differently than them.

You're objectivity is impressive and well-stated. Although we all enjoy the right to speak freely, that right is best tempered with a modicum of respect and acknowledgement that everyone has an opinion and they are free to express it. Low-level debasement does lend itself to a viable debate.

I couldn't agree more. A couple of the smartest folks I know ar die-hard republican. They know the issues, but just have a different view of them than I do.

I think we all can agree that we're lucky to live in countries where we can discuss/debate/argue openly about our politicians without fear of reprisal.

Flykdog, I agree wholeheartedly. I was gonna post something similar in KD's post but don't usually get involved in the political threads either. However, although i also voted for kerry, ALOT of people I work with, even here in Cali, with more education and more information than most voted for Dubya.
