Help with new skis!
I'm in the market for some new skis but want some help as I don't keep up on the latest and greatest as I buy new about every 4 years. I only ski backcountry (I live in Kelowna and I find BW very boring) mainly Rogers Pass and the Kootenay's but am moving to Nelson in March so will probably ski WW a bit. I'm 6'3, 220lbs and currently ski Dynastar 4x4 Bigs (188) with Dynafit bindings and Lasers. I really like these skis but want something fatter and will be putting Fritschi Freerides on them. I also plan on getting some Mega-Rides as the Lasers are too soft. These are the options I'm currently looking at:
Atomic Sugar Daddys - 183
K2 Apache Chief - 181
Armada ARV - 185
Rossignol B3 - 185
I'm currenly leaning towards the K2's or Armada's as I can get the best deal on them.
All opinions and suggestions appreciated.
Cheers

Welcome JONG!
At least you put your post in the right place. But....you could have tried hitting the little button that says "Search" in the upper right hand corner. All of these skis have been debated ad nauseum.
In fact, here's a post comparing 2 of the skis you mention:

I personally love my ARV's, though if you're 6'2" 220, do you really want a 180-185cm ski? Especially if you're going to be putting freerides on them, sack up and get a longer ski, jong.

Welcome back J C
K2 and armata are soft flexing , nice for powder, but a bit to soft for you if you like the bigs (did you have some CMH volkls too?)
SG, is med to stiff, The older ones with the goofy atomic only plate are stiffer, newer ones sans plate a bit softer.
Might want to talk to Mike W heli ski, They sell some 183 SG with a mount what you want plate?
I have some 183 head 103's new for $500 US, Doesn;t come much stiffer then that.

Mtnlion, I don't know if I'd say the Armadas are softer, maybe not stiffer like a volkl or a dynastar, but probably stiffer than the K2. I also have heard that the '05 ARV's are stiffer, ABS sidewalls versus P-Tex, etc. etc. Though i can't say for sure.

Johnny - we'll be shipping Bro Models next week, innumerable reviews will be rolling in - if you can wait that long.

for what you wrote and what have been said by testers, no doubt, give the stiff BRO a chance
