3 Days in Central/South California wwms (where would maggot's surf?)

So I pulled the trigger on a good last minute flight to Los Angeles to visit a firiend/surf from this sunday the 7th till thursday the 10th and am humbly asking the maggot collective for any break recomendations.

I'm an intermediate surfer and feel most comfortable riding 7-8 ft funshapes and am looking for relatively uncrowded and unpolluted beach/point breaks anywhere in the central/south coast area.

I will have a rental car and have no qualms about taking advantage of the unlimited milage so spots don't need to center around the major areas. Having never surfed California before I did the rounds on surfline/wannasurf ect and figured the best bet for what I am looking for would be the south Orange County area (San Onofre) and possibly Santa Barbara area as well, what do you guys think?

I know it's last minute but any help is greatly appreciated.

I would say San O' and possibly Huntington. There is a bit of swell in the water, but both of those places should be manageable. Rincon is 3-5 right now, according to sufrline, which means it will probably be crowded.

Why the fuck are you driving from LA to surf Campus Point? There's plenty of surf on the way - and a weekday north of LA will have less crowds than south. Print out the surf spot guide, take the 1 and find something that looks good.

Having gone to UCSB I would not count on Campus Point. It has a small swell window. That being said, there are other places that don't. If going up that way, I would advise C street in Ventura, or one of the spots on PCH between Ventura and Rincon.

One of my buddies started his UCSB career in the fall of 97. He lived in a dorm right by Campus Point. He grew up in Huntington, and had surfed since he was about 10, so he was good. On the first day of classes, he checked the point to find it a couple of feet overhead, and racing down the line. In other words, going off. Unfortunately, that gave him a false idea about the wave. It is VERY rare to get it like that. It has the same problem as most of SB, small swell window.

The nice thing about PCH going up to SB is that there are many spots you can check easily.
