There are other threads for showing footage and pictures from certain cameras. Once you have used the camera enough it would also be dope to post reveiws of it here. The new GoPro HD just came out, thought it would be cool to have a thread where people can post their videos, discuss comprsesion and exporting, etc.
This is my first test edit from the new camera. I used a chest mount instead of the the helmet mount.
This footage is just from a day at Snowbird UT testing out my new GoPro HD Camera and Chest Mount. I am trying to decide still how much I like the chest mount as compared to the helmet mount. It does allow you to see your skis and the horizon at the same time easier, but also looks weird whenever your arms raise above the level of the camera (dropping a cliff, etc.).
Footage isn't great, mostly because I was testing the camera as well as frame rates. The HD on this camera looks awesome though for sure!
My home network wasn't working when I threw this video together and there were about 10 random songs on my computer, I decided this one was as good as any. If anyone has some cool music that I could throw in an edit sometime let me know, would love some spanish guitar.
More video to come.
P.S. That day at the Bird was awesome! I was testing out the Lib Tech NAS Pow ReCURVE skis. A review will be posted on skijosh.com soon.

OK, heres one of mine. Helmet mount, overcast to bright sun, very nice pow pow, used the #5 setting. Hooked my right tip not once but twice while getting used to new ski/binding combo.:nonono2:

DUDE! Wow. Love that side shot man. Nice job Atrain. That just made pow skiing look almost as fun as it really is. Of course, no camera can really catch that feeling, but that was pretty damn close.

have only had the cam for less than a week, but am loving the goprohd, liking the 720p mode for skiing more than the 1080 mode as i like the deeper frame more than the wider one.
will have to play with the 60fps mode as the above vids look sick:
here is my footage( has been posted on tr in skiing forum):
(i need to quit being cheap and pay fro a vimeoplus account as i like their compression more than youtubes)

rad. was that all 720p at 60fps?

All 720p 60p. You'll have to do a batch conform in cinema tools to 29.97 or 24fps (whatever your time line is) to get it to play at true slow motion or a similar type program, otherwise it just plays at normal speed, and if you just slow it down in final cut it will just double frames.

123ski - what resolution did you use on your chest harness? im taking mine out for the first time tomorrow and im not sure what gets the most in the shot in terms of tips/hands/poles. 3 4 or 5?

When I used cinema tools to convert it to true slow motion I had to convert the video to a different codec as when I imported the files from the gopro it came off as h264 that cinema tools doesnt seem to recognize. How did you get around this?

I wasn't aware of that because I convert all of my footage anyways. We are shooting Dendrite Studios ski film mostly on the 7D which the footage is very processor intensive, so our workflow already required us to convert the footage. In the aim of keeping the workflow even across the board we have done that with all of our GoPro footage as well. We use mpeg streamclip, which is a free conversion tool that can be found online. It does a very good job. We convert it to prores. Apple Intermediate codec is decent if you are on FCP 5. We keep our originals, and only convert (in cinema tools) the converted clips. Once you convert 60p clips in cinema tools there is no going back, so we leave the originals alone.
