What IS this Community?!?
In looking at the most viewed posts I plucked these Gems out of a poisen filled diatribe of he said she said.
They capture what I enjoy about this place:

Over the first couple years of powmag I was in the top 10 for number of posts. Went to the first summit and have hosted and skied with maggots everywhere. First class people. From a pastrami sammich in NYC with Pinner to heli-skiing with Odin to WA backcountry with Buster or dinner in a countryside VA bar with Ice and Big E, it's always been more about the personalities than the skiing for me. Brett is an abrasive personality. Dissenting personalities are fine. Abrasiveness, however, chaffs the fabric of a community built humor, familiarity, and a love of skiing.
Brett can, however, be the ultimate dichotomy. At times he left me laughing so hard I almost wet myself. Some of his stoke was really cool. Why can't these aspects of his personality reign supreme?
Dex has always been, for better or worse, extremely opinionated. Dex has long been one of my favorite personalities on this board.
But Beaver is also one of my favorite posters. It seemed, Dex, he was voicing frustration and is a reasonable person to do it. Dex, you don't get told off by longstanding members often, especially by someone as even-keeled as Beaver. Whatever hasn't been let go, should be.
Sure there have been people run off the boards. There have also been many people embraced. SheRa was nearly run off. I remember trying to get her, through personal emails, to come to the initial summit at SLC. She almost committed, but the backlash kept her away. That said, she found her own path. She is undoubtedly a better skier and mountaineer than I. What an emergence as a skier AND online personality. Those who really want to be here, are here.
All in all, this place is awesome. I hope MD9, a great dood who has a place to stay anytime he wants if he happens through whatever berg I am living in, returns sometime -- even infrequently -- the board was better with him around. Glad to see his kin still posting though!
Anyway, gotta make some phone calls. Meeting Squirrel99, Rehabit, Greenmachine, Buster, etc... to hike for some turns tomorrow. Without this board, I wouldn't know any of these guys. THAT, is what this place is all about.

Awesome post, Rusty. For those who don't know, Rusty didn't just attend the first summit, he organized it.
Bottom line is, those who are more positive than negative (I'm right on the line) end up being loved (see Splat and Yossarian). Rusty has been upbeat from day one (actually he was on powmag before I was), and he deserves all the love we can give him.
Some longtime posters seem to have gotten very bitter lately. I hope they will join us in making this place what it can be, a "band of brothers" (and sisters, too, of course). With funny shit and the occasional freakout not only allowed but encouraged.
Keep ya chins up, ya buncha stupid fuckwads.

it's cathartic, really.
Last weekend I hung & safely watched ski videos with Buzz Fri then went to a concert on Sat with Xover.
Sunday after hiking I did a workout I copied from this board.
Ya do the hokey pokey & ya turn yourself around
That’s what its all about!
