Stevens Pass, WA - Hope on the Slopes provides skiers and snowboarders an opportunity to make 24hrs of skiing or riding more meaningful by raising money and awareness for the American Cancer Society while competing for vertical feet and celebrating their fundraising efforts in a family friendly atmosphere.

Hope on the Slopes allows skiers and boarders to compete as individuals or on a team formed from friends, family, co-workers, etc. There are no age restrictions on event participants.

Prior to the event individual and team participants register online and fundraise for the American Cancer Society. Each participant and team will receive a personal web page that they can customize with their own messages and photos. Features of the site include the ability to easily fundraise online via email, track fundraising progress, and honor loved ones touched by cancer.

While at the Hope on the Slopes event, vertical feet are tracked through Stevens Pass RF system and are based on the distance from the top to the bottom of each marked run on the mountain. Both teams and individuals will compete for fantastic prizes on two levels: Dollars Raised and Total Vertical Feet. Past prizes have included lift tickets, skis or snowboard, and much more!

I used to do the 24 hour paintball game down in Sumner at KC Krusaders field, that was INSANE!

Glad this is being put together, great cause, will be fun and... never seen the sun rise from the top of a mountain before.

The event was a blast last year. Getting the chance to rip down the mountain in the middle of the night without the crowds was unreal.

Thanks for the post blackbrn, I have a friend having a tough battle with colon cancer spreading all over the rest of him. I'm getting a team together in his honor. PM sent.

If I can't form a team for this will someone allow me to join theirs? I'm sure I will have no problem raising the $200 minimum for qualification

id be in for a TGR team though

I'd recommend someone starting a TGR team and trying to fill that. If it looks like there is to many or to few for a team of 5-15, we came move folks around and make it work. I'd start the team, but I've filled one up already. I can refer people to a TGR team if the numbers end up being low closer to the event.

I hope there's a TGR team but if there isn't, I've already ponied up the entry fee for a team for my company. We have plenty of spots left (well, at least 7 or 8) as most of my friends are whimps and non-committal.

Anybody else feel like learning to snowboard? Last year, all the lifts but hogsback closed at about 10:30, so it was just lapping hogsback(hog heaven run) after that if I remeber right. I thought it would be fun spending the 24 hours learning to board, instead of skiing groomers.

Last year after 10pm the runs alternated Between Hogs and Chief.

Simply amazing. Bill, again thanks for posting this event here. I never would have known about it if I didn't stumble upon it here. The bonds that my teammates, best friends that we are, are stronger than ever.
$170,000.00 for our efforts. Not too shabby. See ya next year.

Sick event but too bad it's for the cancer society. You guys know cancer research is a total scam right?? The cure for cancer is prevention all this does is make a bunch of people incredibly rich while dishing out mammograms, chemo, and prescription drugs.
