another AT boot mod question

so it sounds like im not alone in thinking that g-fit or thermoflex liners kinda suck. anyone try beefing them up by glueing the stiff rubber/plastic stuff from alpine liners cuffs onto the cuff of the offending thermoflex/g-fit? this would obviously make them a bit heavier, but they would probably still be lighter than alpine liners. (and more comfortable for long skinning, and warmer)
All i want is a boot that hikes like a lazer, and skis like my trusty L10s. is that so much to ask?

Some have glued the plastic you speak of to the inside of the cuff, with good results.
