It wasn't that bad, but bad enough. Doing a descent on the new connector trail to the other parking lot at Hall Ranch. I hear some banging, thinking I have a twig stuck in my rear cog, I look back and see my rear derailuer disconnected from the frame, bouncing off of my spokes :eek: . I quick slam on the brakes before that baby lodges into my rear wheel and causes me to wreck. Somehow I realize what i have to do and get to work.
I had to pull the cable off the rear derailuer, cause the rear hanger BROKE. I didn't even hit anything that I was aware of. So off comes the deraileur and into the pack it goes. Luckily I have a chain breaker, pull out 6 or more links, line up the chain on the small front ring and whatever ring in the back is in line with the front ring. My bud told me to line it up on one down, then it will worm its way up to the next one and make it tighter, if you take out the right amount of links. All in all 7 minutes tops.
Now I am sporting a one of a kind full suspension single speed. Kick ass. Climbing back out of the gully wasn't so much fun, but not impossible cause i had lined my chain up on the small ring. Luckily from there it was only one more short climb up then all down to the lot. A few people that we ran into on the trail thought it was pretty schweet.
yesterday was a jinx day, one flat for my buddy, saw a guy loose his seat due to a busted screw on the seat (he had to take the post off and climb out standing up).
What's the worst that you've been busted on the trail? Crazy repairs?
