OK- looking to buy some fatties this season. I can get shop form on Volkl, Salomon, Rossi, and Elan. Bought a pair of Snow Rangers last season, and absolutely love them. The Explosives are basically wider Snow Rangers, right? So If I like the rangers, I should like the way the Exploder skis, right?
Thinking about getting them in a 180, since they'll probably see a lot of their days in EC glades like MRG, Jay, and whatever stashes I can get my sledneck freinds to take me to.
definately pick an exploder up they rock! I'd go 180 or even shorter. I thought 180 would be too long to turn in tight trees. I was wrong great ski even good on the hardpack we get from time to time out here in the EC :D
Exploders are a lot stiffer than a snowranger. A better question would be why do you need a pair of explosives on the east coast. Are you forgetting that you guys dont get any snow?
Hay man you got some good choses in front of you. I have worked in a ski shop the last c three years and have skied all the new skis for 04/05 in k2 salomon and nordica. I half to say i liked the k2 the best but I wont talk about them sence you dont have their pro form. The salomon P.R. are to soft and very center mounted but the scream versons of them rock a lot stifer and fun. the xploders will rock your world skied a buddys pair and loved them. go for it..
Dude I've lived in CO now for 2 years and we haven't got half the pow VT got when I lived there in the early and mid 90s. The problem with the east is it's feast or famine. Famine being bad in a way most people out here in CO would simply quit skiing altogether and COLD...damn COLD. The problem with east coast pow is it's heavy and wet, so you need a big board that floats, and is super quick for the trees because almost all EC powder is found in the trees. Depending on how big you are, I'd think the 180 Exp. would be a great weapon of choice but I'd also have a really good carver ski too in case this winter is as bad as last winter was for you guys. Volkl 5 star would also be a great ski for the East for carving and glade skiing. The ski is like a race car and rips through ice better than anything I've skied, it's also fairly wide (mid fat).
If you're going to get a 180 Exp. on your pro form, can you order 2 and send me out a pair? They're freaking hard to find out here, and I'm jonsing to get my hands on some. Just tell me the price?
Anybody here know about the Explosive 2 CAD(computer Aided Design)? I know Volkl has been making the Ex for about 10 years and these skis are prolly about that old. Was wondering if they are the same in girth & stiffness as today's Explosives?

Dude, the 5 Star sucks for a pow/crud ski. In my mind, the Supersport series are one-dimensional carving boards. I would rock a 724 Pro over them any day, they actually are a mid-fat (77mm vs. 68mm waist).Quote:

Oh, and don't ask someone you don't know to abuse his proform priveledges for you, that's just stupid. You can't tell me that there are no Explosives in Colorado. Around here, there are at least a couple pair at most of the shops. Damn, there's even a pair of 180's on eBay right now.
darkside I think chowdah was talking more about the feast/famine thing we had going on last year. December was HUGE with those two big storms, but then it rained :mad: and turned absolutely ARCTIC in January. I remember hearing at one place it got to cold to even make snow. Yeah we had a lot of really great days last year but we also had some days where you were crazy to be out skiing the conditions were so bad.
