The Funny SPAM Email Thread (NSR)

I wonder what the fuck any of this shit means, but I get like 15 of them per day. Some of them are random jumbles of words like magnetic poetry written by an author of the OED on acid:

It means yet another spammer got your email address, and they've sent a bunch of garbage in the hopes that it DOESN'T get returned.

You should notice an increase in your spam over the next week or so. :rolleyes:

edit: or you already knew all this and are simply amused by it. Yes, I get several a week also.

Does this actually help sell stuff?

yeah, I block the fuckers domains with every new one I get, yet they keep coming, like the waters of the Monogahela over Point State Park. Lately I've been trying to be amused by them so as to at least gain something from the whole deal. Fuckers!

That's the reasoning behind the words themselves - they usually contain a specific SET of characters which are prevalent in say - prescription meds. Bet if you look through that list, you'll find a word or 2 ending in "agra". You might have blocked "VIagra", but you didn't think to block "agra". So instead of using the whole word, they'll break it up, or change the spelling:

Vyagra, vi agr a, etc...

i never open those. i just delete them when they come in. once you open them or click the links they know that they hit a working email address and will send more spam your way.

I used to get a lot of spam. Now I get maybe one or two a day that make it all the way to my inbox.

* Run Spam Assassin on your server if possible. It grabs the majority of the spam.

* Use Thunderbird for an e-mail client. It has more spam filtering built in that works very well.

Has anybody found a reliable spam filter for Mac??
I run Spam Inspector on XP and it's awesome, but I can't find anything comparable for Mac.
