365 days later and its still the one
One year ago today I realized a big dream of mine and finally moved up into the mountains. For my whole life up to that point I had basically lived at sea level within 30 miles of the Pacific Ocean even though I don’t particularly like the ocean and many of the passions of my life are of the mountains. I was stoked to be sure, but somewhere deep down there was also some trepidation too. For all those years as a weekend warrior in the mountains made every mountain sunrise and sunset and every night on the ground and every day in the open special because I knew that come Sunday I would be leaving for the flatlands again. So when I made this move, I was a little worried that somehow I would loose this mountain magic in the very act of living daily life at altitude. Would this attempt at cohabitation with my beloved peaks and pines and granite and snow falter as we had to deal with our metaphysical hose hanging on the shower rod and hairs in the sink? All I can say is it must be true love because even with some of those unseemly hassles, every moment is still special and every turn of the planet and every breath of mountain air is still cherished. I still walk out onto my deck and can’t help but smile and be awed at what surrounds me. I still take time to stop and stare, to just sit and look at it all. I am still smitten and I like that.

Hikes, bikes, and fishing forays in the dozens
1 summit hit with even more amazing people “from the internet”
1 more season ripping with the kwood crew, the best crew ever
6 months with the coolest woman I have ever known – yes, maggettes do rule
I can’t wait to see what the next 365 will bring.
