People will probably discount that he was unable to defend his gold, but defeating Karelin will always make the guy a legend, IMO.
I hadn't heard about him getting lost and losing a toe until the Olympics, rough road to get to this one.

This is kind of skiing related... his mum owns a gas station outside of Jackson Hole, spoke with her last winter about her son, snow, snowmobile accidents, wrestling, and her running out of coffee at, what was for me, a critical juncture.
