Big and Squishy!

So I went downhilling on Sat. morning with the Altagirls, powho, Frizz and Mrs. Frizz, GT-40 (where are the headcams btw?!), and a friend of the Altagirls. Am I missing anyone?

Anyway, this Altagirl friend just got spancered by a boutique bike company and had to dump his old DH bike immediately--therefore at LOW cost...so I wound up demoing it and taking it home that afternoon! Wasn't planning on any such thing but it was just one of those 'right time, right place, impossible deal to pass up' type things.

Anyway soooooo stoked!!! It's an '02 Specialized Big Hit Comp, but basically not a Comp--EVERYTHING has been upgraded: Vanilla RC shock, '03 Marzocchi Shiver DC fork, MRP chainguide, Azonic bars, Thomson post, 8" Hayes, etc etc...it's just pimp. I owe Mr. Altagirl HUGE for turning me onto this one--he was about to buy it and just part it out to upgrade his own bike, which ain't too shabby either ;) Which has me thinking...DH-9 frame this winter? hehe.

I finally have a 2 bike quiver! It's been about 5 years since I had 2 bikes! Yay! Aren't they cute together? Did I put wayyyy too much effort and thought into this photo shoot? Hell yes. What is wrong with me?

friggin sweet. I am envious of your 2 bikes. My 3" XC bike hates me going downhill and treating it like a 5" FR bike. Wonder why i have shock issues???

Nice pickup Particle. Kickass ride. Now, don't blame anyone but yourself when you realize you have a general disdain for pedaling uphill and only want to ride your "big bike."

I'm still shocked at the deal. I would have liked it but I really don't need it and don't have the money to blow anyway. I would rather another Maggot get it and we have more people to ride with. Brian Head Labor day weekend (awesome shuttles, great DH course) Deer Valley following weekend??!?!?!.

From another thread, I came up short on the gap jump after the ladder drop at I-st and landed from about 6' all on my left foot. Ankle popped and then my head augured in. I'm in a RocketSox for a month but I'm still going to Durango. We only get one chance a year to ride that hill and its way too fun. I guess I'll just need that many more beers each evening to help with the swelling.

Yeah I'm still stunned by that deal. If I didn't know him thru the Altagirls I'd have thought the dude stole the thing and was just trying to get a few bucks off of it! :)

CS--I know all about the 'big bike' addiction; I've already been there. I owned a '01 Big Hit Pro for a couple years and pedalled the thing everywhere; which is why I sold it for the Foes--I was climbing my big bike tooo much. Now that I have 2, and the big bike is even bigger (and heavier) with the 8" linkage and Shiver...well...it's gonna be fun!

p.s. and Mr. AG--that freakin sucks about the ankle! I've looked at that thing a few times after coming off the ladder; seems like you'd have plenty of speed but the gap is huge! Now I have even less incentive to try it. Urgh. Check your other thread for my DH race plans (or lack thereof) :(

Sucks to hear about your ankle man. Heal up fast. Are you guys still planning on going to Mammoth for the Nationals? And how short did you come up on that thing?
