Hamm’s gold result of scoring error, federation rules
Judges suspended, but results won't be
changed despite South Korean protests
U.S. gymnast Paul Hamm will keep his all-around gold despite a ruling by the International Gymnastics Federation that a scoring error cost South Korean Yang Tae-young the title

I saw this and immediately thought of 16 years ago when Roy Jones Jr. embarassed that South Korean, only to miss the Gold. Worst mistake I've seen this side of the 1972 Gold medal debacle.

Great theory, but was Yang Tae-young one of the judges that night? Or does he get to wait 16 years for another South Korean to benefit from bad judges???
Boxing, figure skating, gymnastics, big mountain ski comps. All reasons to hate judged sports. Refs can be bad, but rarely do they make the kinds of random impact that these judges do.
Just give me a sport with a ball and a net or a stopwatch to determine the real winner on the field of play and I'm happy!
