I Am SO Stoked!

Well, this is the most stoked I've been in a long, long time. My family jsut booked airfare to Utah for 12/11-12/19 2004. This is big time for me, since I figure the chances of getting good soft snow and powder days are better in December than they are in late March[antijinx]. Now I just need to hope that it works out so the Utah Mini is sometime during that week. We'll be staying somewhere in or around Park City for the week since my mom doesn't ski and wants a cutesy little ski town to walk around in.

Anyway, we plan on hitting several Utah resorts, (alta, snowbasin, solitude, maybe the Bird) along with the PC resorts. I know this post sounds like somethign Max would post, but the stoke level is through the roof. Hopefully we'll get the chance to meet up and ski with some of the Utah crew and, God willing, we'll get some big time snow while we're there. [antijinx]

Congrats on the trip but, in my experience, you'll need to head over to the other side of the Wasatch to get that light fluffy powder.

Park City has some goods up in the Jupiter area but for the most part it's pretty rock solid.

Lucky dawg. Is your family looking to adopt? I'm housebroken, I don't chew the furniture, I won't attack the mailman (though I might have to bite the FedEx man...mrrrwr), I may/may not chase cars, and I promise not to tip over garbage cans ('cept when horribly drunk).

Anyway, sounds like a nice trip.:D

And who could possibly object to a snow-stoke post?

There's nothing like the stoke of planning a ski trip for the upcoming season. I just booked a condo in Mammoth for our annual family ski trip (me, my wife, my aunt, my parents, and my little brother). My dad is the only one who's ever skied Mammoth (two days in the spring), so I'm looking forward to showing everyone around.

We're renting a 4x4 and at the current time are only planning on skiing 3 of 7 days in the Park City area, (1 at PCMR and 2 at The Canyons) the other 4 will be spent hitting other Utah mountains, hopefully with some maggot/minion guidance to the goods.:D :cool:

Actually, I was under the impression from your post that you were recommending Park City/ The Canyons over the LCC/BCC resorts...

Yea, you don't want to ski in Park City at all. It's all ice. All winter long.:rolleyes: Head over to LCC. (one less touron family to stand in line with this side of the wasatch)

For reals glademaster, bring your A game and be sure to PM me prior to your arrival at The Canyons. I have a pretty good idea where the goods can be found.

I take it your from the East. You gots any BC gear (beacon, skins, shovel, probe) in your quiver? (and the knowledge to use em?) If so, goods will be found for sure.

I'm going to whistler!!! Just Have to get through the swim season then the 4 month adventure known as cross country skiing, Uber stoked to ski somewhere that is really big, and not just kinda big

I'll be sure to PM you before we head to The Canyons, and depending on weather and snow, we may be spending more than two days there. I don't have any avy gear and even if I somehow procured it between now and then, I wouldn't even consider heading OB simply due to lack of knowledge. I'm sure there are plenty of inbounds stashes you wouldn't mind sharing.:D

Will do 13. It would be even better if the Mini Summit happened to go off during that week, which from looks of the poll posted, it will. Either way, I just need to hope it dumps on us.[antijinx]

Bump, just booked lodging and a car rental, not is't completely official. First 6 nights in the Park City/Deer Valley area, last 2 nights in the Hilton SLC Center so we're closer to LCC and the airport. Not to mention the fact that condo rates quadruple after the 16th of December. Super super stoked, and it looks like there's a storm movin in to Ootah later this weekend. Here's hoping that is pukes all week at the Mini and before it while I'm there. [antijinx]

Wow, I can't believe that one week from today at this time, I'll be bubbling in out private hot tub in Park City. Powstash, it's looking like we'll be skiing at the Canyons a week from Tuesday with some friends in tow. Depending on conditions, we may be there Sunday as well, but that could also be spent at PCMR. I'm stoked more than anyone knows right now. :biggrin: :biggrin:

I do believe you are experiencing what is known as "over-stoke" Please calm down. You will be plenty happy even if it doesn't dump. LCC will challenge everything your little east-coast skills can handle. Please take your seat and enjoy the ride. "over-stoke" can be slightly annoying, we all know you hope it dumps "10 ft"

Yeah, I'm kinda expecting to get my ass handed to me a bit, but I've done Extremely Canadian out in Whistler and was placed in the "better" fo the two groups for my session. I'm not cocky about my abilities, but provided the snow conditions are good, I'm confident in myself as a skier, and if they aren't I can hack my way reasonably well. It may not be pretty, but if it gets me down the hill safely in marginal snow, who cares. We shall see.

More Stoke!!!!

Watch the snow reports each day and you'll know where to ski. Things can vary so much from canyon to canyon. We loved the northeren slopes (Snowbasin, etc.) for cheap prices, lack of crowds, but December can be really thin and rocky up there. Alta has always been good.

I am personally getting totally stoked for our trip to Wolf Creek the same week. If it keeps dumping, I'll be in over-stoke mood soon (i.e. jumping up and down at work and/or the grocery store screaming "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!!!!" at the top of my lungs.) :the_finge

It's all good....correction....GREAT!
