Random Thank You Topic

I was just reading Fez' thread about Becky and what-not. I have to give a quick thanks to all the mags here like Fez, Bustah, Karl, LB, MD9 and everyone else who post on how stoked they are on their spouses. Now, this may sound really weird, but it means a lot to me because it gives me hope. See we've got a lot in common, you and I, yet you still found someone you've been with quite a while and you're still stoked. It gives me hope that someone will someday become this bottomless barrel of goodness.

well, that's pretty cool - hopefully she will continue to endure my antics.

On another note: while it probably deserves its own thread (oh, to have pics)...on Sunday we were out on the river wakeboarding and ran into some acquaintances who were out on one dude's dad's 50+ foot cruiser.

Well, we hung out with them and everyone was jumping off the top deck into the river (almost a 20 foot drop). My wife comes up to me and says that my four-year-old daughter wants to launch. Dumbfounded, I said, "well, we'll go up there, but I know she'll chicken out".

We go up there, and obviously the air looks bigger from that vantage. I say to Grace: "we don't have to jump, ya know, it's pretty scary." She goes: "dad, if you hold my hand, I'll jump."

So, we launched it (she had a life jacket on so she popped up pretty quickly) and she was stoked. I can't believe she did that - holy shit was that ballsy for a 4-yr.-old.

Anyway, I hope that I am not an irresponsible dad for that decision. Remember, my wife [back on topic] was the one who wanted me take her. Life is cool!

just last night, sandwhiched inbetween the moment the bottle opener cracks open the amber ale and the moment the whishing sound of the suds comes frothing out all I hear is:

Mrs. Shoe (coming in from the garage): "WTF?! There's like 8 pairs of skis in the garage!! Did you get more!?"

Me (feeling the suds drip off the bottom of my freshly cracked beer onto my feet w/o actually hearing the whish of the bottle opening): "ughhhh....ummm, yeah...well, I'm selling the Solly's to Greydon, and the Stocklis are replacing those once they're gone, so uh, yeah there's really onlly like siiixxvven in there, or um, something...."

M. S.: "Well how come I only have 2! Definitely need more....maybe something fatter than the PR's Explosives maybe?".

Our stated goals for this year are (in order):

Get telenater fucking fuck fuck laid already
Get the Rev at least a sort of long term girlfriend that neither party punks on

Goals for next year:

Get the Rev married off
Con my wife to help tour my non-sprekenzie pa ruskie ass to krasnaya polyana

My fiance thinks I have a problem akin to Imelda Marcos... except with skis... instead of shoes. As a result, I just don't let her in the storage room anymore.

My old lady boards... so this worked when I convinced her to get a Burton Fish... but now I've run out of options... I had hoped to convince her to get a split board... but she went the snowshoes route instead. As result, her quiver is full... and I continue to want mine to grow.

whats even cooler than that is when ya actually get together with their spouses and frozens & frizzos & buzz's etc, etc etc, how stoked the wimins is on them.

makes my gf happy they are so stoked on our community's "lifestyle" & a little more understanding of my addictions & proclivities.

plus they point & laugh a lot at us.....

well said woodsy....I'm lucky to have a man that has been a maggot for a while...makes the relationship that much easier.

KS - that is an awesome story about Grace. Your kid rocks. I can't wait until my little girl wants to do things like that. It is going to rule.

I'm unendingly amazed at my wife for her strength, boundless love and patience. This Friday, it's 10 years. I'm so freaking lucky.
