It dropped to -32C last night. The wood stove is cranking. The truck and car are frozen since we have no power on land for block heater. I have no internet. Had to bike to town to library computer.

Dude, you rode a bike to town just to tell us that?
Man, that's dedication. Keep up the good work. And try not to freeze to death.
you can still homestead?
i want 40 acres + a mule
Well it is kind of fake homesteading. 1/3 acre within 10 min bike to down town Smithers. But since it is 1 block past actual town boundaries we can pretend to be out in the boonies. Gotta shit at the 7-11 though.
Hell I just want an acre or two...
Maybe you should check out electricity and indoor plumbing, I hear they're quite popular these days.
I would just go solar with a good battery setup, still off the grid but not ghetto.
On the bright side, with no indoor plumbing you don't have to worry about the stove going out.
Did I mention the skiing? 6000ft right out the front door. I got 10 days in now and feel like a better person in general because of it.
I have upgraded my morning facilities to the Tim Hortons. One block further away but better coffee and donuts.
Somehow I don't think the original Homesteaders had a 7-11 and a Tim Hortons (! Where's the Dunkies?) down the block, but whatever, have fun playing house.
