2nd Place: "Women Were Designed For Homemaking"
Jonathan Goode (grade 7) applied findings from many fields of science to support his conclusion that God designed women for homemaking: physics shows that women have a lower center of gravity than men, making them more suited to carrying groceries and laundry baskets; biology shows that women were designed to carry un-born babies in their wombs and to feed born babies milk, making them the natural choice for child rearing; social sciences show that the wages for women workers are lower than for normal workers, meaning that they are unable to work as well and thus earn equal pay; and exegetics shows that God created Eve as a companion for Adam, not as a co-worker.
Read "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown. His current book you may have heard of called The DaVinci Code.
Angels and Demons is a novel on a background of factual information. The underlying theme is about physicist who is a devote Catholic who tries to prove the existence of God through physics and the Big Bang theory. It is much more complicated than that, but nonetheless, the author does a great job of connecting science and God and proposing that they are not mutually exclusive.
I am halfway through the DaVinci Code and that is a great read as well. My whole life has rotated around science, I am not even sure if I believe in God or not. But i have always been fascinated by Theology.
Both books are really entertaining as well as being educational.
Oh, here's one for ya. A physical therapist that I work with was preaching this same shit (anti-evolution / pro-creationism) last week while a group of us were in the clinic. We were so taken back we just gaped. It was one of those moments in which I couldn't think of a single thing to say.

Patricia Lewis (grade 8) did an experiment to see if life can evolve from non-life. Patricia placed all the non-living ingredients of life - carbon (a charcoal briquet), purified water, and assorted minerals (a multi-vitamin) - into a sealed glass jar. The jar was left undisturbed, being exposed only to sunlight, for three weeks. (Patricia also prayed to God not to do anything miraculous during the course of the experiment, so as not to disqualify the findings.) No life evolved. This shows that life cannot come from non-life through natural processes."
Did she look at the water under a microscope? I doubt it because she would have seen life.

Ok i am not 100% sure on this one but when you take a lump of Carbon and compress it under extreme pressure you get a diamond. But during this process wouldn't you consider this evolution?

Reminds me of an article here in germany about creatonist scientists....one did 5 expeditionts to the mountain Ararat (5169m) in Iran to find remains of Noah's Arch.... hilarious.
The article here was quite sarcastic but it scared me that those people are allowed to teach their children in home schooling......:eek: :eek:
So evolution is bullshit but bacteria can evolve? Riiiiiight...
I second that reccomendation. DaVinci Code is a great book. I reccomend it expecially for people who grew up spending their whole childhood at church.Quote:

There's quite a bit of discussion on the web about whether this is a hoax or not. Some people seem to think he's appeared on PBS. I think those people are stupid.
Dr. Paley did, however, write an article about how Mac OS is the tool of the devil and that "open source" was just another word for communism. This can't be true, because I checked on a mac we have in our office, and there's no "spread pestilence" or "purchase soul" functions anywhere.
