It is just on loan from my dad, so I am under STRICT orders not to fuck it up because he is taking it to Belize in a couple weeks. But I will give it a try and post my impressions of it here afterwards.
Anyone else have one of these?
I will be using the 908-4 (9ft, 8wt, 4pc).
I'm stoked to try it out... it is probably worth all of my other rods put together.
I casted a zg 7 wt last year and quite frankly it was the worst rod more expensive that $150 that I had ever cast... I wouldn't risk hurting it your TFO casts way better.
My limited experience says a zero G is fine and fun but on my latest trip to AK for large silvers my buddy had a Loomis, Experience in 9' 8wt, 4pc. It may very well be the most enjoyable rod I've ever fished. It felt like casting my 5wt. but put the hurt on 15 pound cohos. That Z-G will do the same, enjoy it while you got it.
Yeah, I'm just going to check this one out. My dad bought this for salt water (he makes frequent trips to Belize) and because it is stiff. He wants to basically shoot the ENTIRE line with it.

I think over the winter I will be in the market for a nice 4 piece 6wt. Not sure what kind yet though - I have my eye on a TFO and on a Sage, but I want to check other ones out as well.
I work for a place that has the zero grav line and I have to say the best rod in my opinion is the 9ft 6wt Midflex 4pc. This rod is a cannon with finesse and a great Big Hole River sized rod. The tipflex's seem much too heavy in the hand, but as you know this sport leaves a lot of room for personal preference.

This thing is a fucking ROCKET. I strung it up and casted it at the lake for a while before getting out my 7wt. This thing made me feel like an NFL quarterback throwing a 60 yard TD bomb. When you put some muscle into it, it literally SHOOTS the ENTIRE line.
WOW.
Not much action on the lake, so we drove over to the river for the last hour of daylight (the Blue Winged Olive hour of power) and I caught a very nice rainbow and a few smaller browns on my 5wt. Left the camera in the truck of course, but had a GREAT evening of fishing.
I'll be drivin' tru Larmie on Sunday. Any fishin worth hittin?
Honestly, it has been pretty slow, unless you hit it between 6 and 7 in the evening (dusk). Your better bet would be to head up from Rawlins towards Lander and stop on the Sweetwater near Jeffery City.
What time do you think you will be pulling through?
The Sweetwater is a bit slow also but the fall colors are at their peak in the canyon (sweetwater canyon) south of Atlantic City.

Hey good to hear ya' had fun...most everyone alive has been excited over a New rod's ability to throw line at one point in time in their lives...., don't get swayed....throwing and fishing a long line on the water can be a lot different experience than at a show or on the lawn. Before you ever lay down a lot of cash for one...as hinted to, try several rods by the different makers, in relatively same line#, and length....ie..designed for the same thing...
Think you'll find that different makers' rods will flex and be stiffer in different areas...

Yeah, this isn't a rod I could see myself owning, but if I lived in Florida or the Bahamas I would. My dad bought this rod for salt water and distance, and that is what it will be good for.
Then again, my local ski hill is only 1000 vert and I bought Pontoons this year. :D
