DVT post ACL recon

I'm about 9 weeks out from ACL recon auto-PTG.

Just got out of the hospital again after getting admitted post a physio session when physio wasn't happy with my calf and Venogram showed a full clot in the Popliteal Vein starting in the middle of my knee.

Uptil now rehab had been going well keeping pretty active-hiking up to 5 miles, spinning on a bike no problem but this is a killer now getiing up and moving around and the knee was starting to feel pretty bomber. On Heparin and wafarin so hoping the backing up in my calf sorts itself out.

Real question is of course - is my winter fucked?. More specifically does the warfarin or DVT have an impact on the "new" ligament's ability to re vascularise?

Any previous experience might be morale boosting as well.

Sorry to hear bout the bad juju... I was on warfarin/arixtra for 6 months after breaking my femur and several associated surgeries. I had several venous clots that all dissolved and had no issues with. I also had an inferior vena cava filter in place for the first six weeks, before the clots dissolved though. As far as revascularization, I'm not sure of any impacts it has on growth of new tissue, but the platelet effect it has might actually help increase circulation to current pathways. Maybe Dr. Mark will chime in. The biggest downside of it for me was that coumadin gave me the slippery shits the whole time... my GI finally straightened out a few weeks after stopping coumadin. Not sure how common that is though. Heal up!

Hmm not had the slippery shits yet so maybe thats something to look forward to - to be honest a dash to the throne would have helped take my mind off the pain when standing yesterday.

Today seems to be slowly improving though my INR is taking a while to get up so feeling a bit more positive. Cheers for the vibes

Warfarin is an anticoagulant and doesn't affect revascularization or healing of new tissue. But your winter IS fucked 'cuz you can't risk falling and injuring yourself because you might bleed to death. Warfarin is also used as rat poison.... kills them by making them bleed to death.
