That has to be somewhere up in the Panhandle. Waves down this way were getting a lot smaller by Monday, and that beach looks nothing like our southern beaches.

That's Yancy Spencer, the owner of the surfshop that the video is hosted by. One of his sons is on the WQS.

There aren't many jetties up on the panhandle, it's not Orange Beach so it's probably Panama City. I think the break is called Amazons, though I never surfed it, as the reputation was that it was very crowded. After watching that video, I'm pretty glad I stayed away.

Some one must have gone home with a fin kiss that day.

i saw a few pics from friend in brevard co., big and mushy, or chop...nothing special.

Gustav was just wind chop on the east coast. Hanna Friday and Saturday was money, especially up coast (Jupiter and points north).

Waves were breaking super fast where we went, in Deerfield, and it was hard for me to get into an open face. Being on a new, shorter board didn't help my weak-armed self much but it was fun nonetheless.

It's funny how being wave-starved makes me fear a feast. When the surf gets biggish I'm always super nervous paddling out, then sketched paddling into the first few waves. But once I'm up a shoulder-high wave doesn't look nearly as intimidating, so I rip the shit out of it.

More importantly, did you get any crab legs at the Whale's Rib yet?

Brevard was out of control Friday and Saturday, winds turned offshore with sandbars that normally don't register going off, a few double overhead sets and I've got no complaints even after that long ass flight.

I only eat seafood that I catch. Which means I don't eat much seafood these days :).

Except for some Bluefin over 4th of July. Mmmmm.
