Owwwww...nice shots. Stuff was chunky and windy on the east coast. Looks like Hanna may deliver later this week, though.

Nice, thanks for the pics. Never surfed the west coast of FL (have done Gulf surfing in Galveston in TX), but an acquaintance has told me some of the best, cleanest beachbreak surf he's scored (coming from someone who has travelled quite extensively) was during a large hurricane swell in the Gulf. His explanation: the general 'lack' of surf builds perfect sandbars that go off under the right swell conditions.
Gotta watch out for the bullsharks though...
Meh- the channel I wakeboard in is swimming with them, pun intended. Course- the boat might discourage them a bit.Quote:

When the surf is firing on the Gulf Coast, it's pretty fun. I spent an autumn, winter, and spring in P'cola and surfed everywhere between Jacksonville and Alabama. There's surfable windswell quite often, not including the summer, but it only gets real good a couple times a year. The Pacific is much more consistent but it's hard to beat shoulder high glass in 85 degree water.
