Does anyone have any suggestions on finding some help learning to properly cast? I am getting better the more I go, but I am thinking if someone who knew what they were doing watched, maybe they could give me some tips.
I was looking for either a clinic or something (don't want to pay a guide $250) or a maggot that was willing to trade a 12 pack for some tips?
Maybe even just a couple beers on the porch and some casting in the yard?
I live in Golden. Thanks for any help/advice.
Most fly shops offer free casting clinics. Look around, maybe golden river sports. If you were local, I'd be more than willing to help.

If you're down in Denver, Trout's (on 6th ave) hold's free casting clincs on Saturday's and the Cherry Creek Orvis holds free casting clinics on Sunday's at Wash Park.
Cool thanks everyone. I watch some more video's did some reading and some practicing, and I am getting much better. I was not holding the line tight between my left hand and the first eyelet. It really helps the rod bend and "shoot" some line.
pechelman...maybe I will take you up on that offer sometime in Sept...if the fishing is still ok...I will be working at a client that is down south.

You can buy a sink tip line that will help load the rod a little easier until you get the "feel" of it. If you want to fish on' sometime shoot me a PM.
Yeah, feel is not my big problem...at least I don't think it is....I have no problem feeling the rod load and shoot the line....I also can put the fly where I want most times...my problem is my fly will sometimes hit my rod on the way forward and if I am casting any distance, my fly gets too low coming back (on a false cast) and it comes past me at eye level!
My guess is the fly is hitting the rod on the way forward, also because it is too low.
I will certainly be taking you guys up on the offer to go fishing!

and ill add that its probably a need for tighter loops on your back cast
also maybe focus on how much, or rather, how little, wrist you add at the end of the casting strokes.
it needs a little wrist to provide a hard stop
you can also try to slow things down, and open up the loops, like you might when fishing lots of terminal tackle for nymph fishing
How in the world do you get your loops tighter?
the line goes where you point your rod
by keeping the tip on a straight line as you move it back and forth, the tighter youll keep the loops
if you end up casting square shaped loops or end up hooking your line with the fly, thats usually a problem at the ends of the casting stroke where the tip either deviates above or below the plane at which youre moving the tip
