....is what we call those seats with the groooooove for your beanbag. Anyone know if these work? My ass goes numb on long climbs and sometimes I get a tingling in my left foot until I adjust myself. Any recommendations?

They work very well. The parts use to turn black from lack of blood. Not any more.
That's the worst thing I've heard this week.Quote:

Rev: they work. I use and recommend the Terry Liberator on my mountain bike.
Also you need one wide enough to support your sit bones. The narrow "racing" saddles get wedged up your butt crack and then all your weight is on the soft tissue -- even if it has a cutout. This is what causes the numbness.
Keep in mind that the cutout doesn't hold your sack; it holds the part of your penis that's inside your body, which includes the arteries and nerves.
For god sakes, Spats - TECH TALK, please! ;)Quote:

Pardon me, ma'am, but this is the men's locker room. :D

And good ergonomic seat is important for both males and females to prevent loss of sensation and over time nerve damage.
Damn, and I was going to go mtn biking later today.
heh heh - how you can you NOT open a thread called "nut pockets??"Quote:

I wrote a feature story for a newspaper years ago about ergonomic bike seats. I talked with Specialized designer Dr. Robert Minkow who developed a seat for the company (the slogan for the seat was "go all day, go all night"), as well as a urologist. The problem in the past, of course, had been numbness after prolonged rides. The Specialized guy showed that after using his ergonomic seat, the rate of numbness drastically declined with riders.
The urologist said that anything short of a toilet seat is going to cause serious damage to key nerves that could eventually result in impotence in men and women.
Then I talked to a race organizer who said numbness has nothing to do with the seat, but rather riding too much, too soon, and being aware that you have to raise yourself from the saddle from time to time.
The conclusion? Who knows. But I've never had problems with my seat - which is not an ergonomic seat but rather a standard Specialized mtb saddle.
But it would be hysterical to see someone riding a bike with a toilet seat.
Everybody has different needs for a seat. It took me 2 different saddles before I found on that works. Even my new bike last year had a POS saddle, I am still using my 6 year old seat that was one of the first ergonomic ones that came out for MTB. Definitely works.
What JMO said rings true in my experience, early season I get a little numb in the foot and seat.
So, are you saying that you used to be "well-endowed," but now you're back to being a No. 2 pencil? And you're happy about it? ;)Quote:

No... I just put a toilet seat on my bike and I've felt great ever since. The only problem with it is, the ladies keep wanting to barrow it. ;)Quote:

Oh man, this brings back memories of selling those seats when I worked in a bike shop back in the day. The seats had just come out(specialized had a bunch of models) and people were flocking into buy them. I'd have to explain how they work.
"Well sir, the cut out makes it so you dont put all your weight on your grundle"
"Uh, what the fuck is a grundle?"
"Perinium sir. (At which point the conversation would get tense and awkward) You know, that spot between the shitter and your boys."
Surprisingly, more women bought the saddle (for their husbands I'm guessing) than men. I guess they figured that was the reason their man couldnt perform. I'm thinking the same women are buying levitra/viagra and finding it works a lot better than the bike seat.
^^heh. Grundle, I thought that was just a western pa thing. Guess not.
I highly recommend the WTB Laser V. It has the Love Channelâ„¢.
Is that where the tic grabbed you? Pu ratted you out. :DQuote:

No, the tick got me on the sack.
