Planning a day hike for tomorrow and figured I fish for some info here:
Anyone have anything to say about Mt. Colden via the Trap Dike? Looks pretty cool from what I can see, but how serious is the scrambling towards the top? Any equipment other than hiking boots required? Any info on time would also be appreciated (22km, 9-10 hours is what I've gathered so far).

everything is late this year-so the black flies are still out in force
about 4 years ago this time after I graduated high school a bunch of friends and I went up and backpacked for a week. While the views and weather were great the bugs ruined the trip. We all came back looking like we had just come off 2 months on survivor. Wear long pants and long sleeves no matter how hot it is.
The trap dike is doable without extra equipment if you feel comfortable with a bit of exposure.
If it's rained heavily recently, I'd procede with caution since it can get slippery.
