Hey everyone, im on my way to Block Island and wanted to know if there were any good breaks and where they are. Pretty much just looking for the overall scene on the Island. I've never been so i dont know about surf shops and breaks. Thanks for any info you can give me.
Black Rock beach has a point break that gets big, park at Vail beach/painted rock and walk down path to beach and go 1/3 mile right s/w down rocky beach a couple of longboard people should be out. Mansion beach sometimes has a fun sand bar low tide break. When tropical storms are out to sea many different areas will present options just study island map and know the wind. Fun drinking boating party scene. Have Fun.
All the breaks are buried behind some kind of large national forest. The south side of the island is loaded with sweet breaks. The Island is a whole bunch of fun.

Isn't Judith in Rhode Island, not Block Island? I never got out to the Block when I lived there, but I would assume it picks up a bunch more swell than the mainland. If Judith is going, Block must be sick with the cobble stone points out there.
That being said, I still remember one of my largest East Coast days ever. Way outside Judith in the morning. Green Point and Ruggles for lunch. Back to K-29(?) for the evening session.
Study the maps. I am sure you will find something fun out there.
true . just kidding a bit. I DO remember a particular session at K39 when the swell hit the jetty so hard it would spray 30 feet in the air and tone down the wave enough to be a few feet overhead inside at port of galilee. That day stretched my leash a bunch. You could hear the giant boulders rumble when the swell came thru, good stuff.
