Beta Request: Anyone know of any snow in Idaho, in August?

I've embarked on the ski-every-month quest. I'm trying to spread/share the stoke. See the TR's:

But I'm a little worried about August. I'm thinking that the Lost River Range might hold some promise. Has ANYONE been out there, recently, or does anyone have any other ideas for getting some turns in August... short of going to Utah/Canada? I'd prefer to keep it at an affordable driving distance from Boise. Thanks a million!

I'd say you're on the right track. I'd check the Devil's Bedstead area, as that thing usually holds snow pretty well. However, according to NOAA it's looking pretty grim.

I'd also guess that some of the couloirs in the Redfish/Stanley (Shagri La, Sawtooth Lake) area might have some hidden snow, as when I was skiing in early July in the area it looked like it would last until August. Are you looking to just make some turns or actually ski something of significance?

I'd say some of the north side of Seven Devil's, LR Range and a couple slivers in the Sawtooth's. McGowen was looking pretty dry when we up there this weekend.

Any turns would be welcome... was wondering about the snowfield that lies in the saddle between chickenout ridge and the face on the SW ridge of Borah... I've climbed it twice, but never looked at the snowfield through the eyes of a summer-time skier...

This is near where we went for July... we didn't really want to go back because it was melting FAST a few weeks ago. Thanks for the ideas.

This is a noble quest. I wish you well.

You can go Washington and not waste your time. I recommend Mt. Baker or you go budget and ski Adams or Hood. Anything else in the lower 48 is a waste of time.

^This has always been on the backburner... and it's certainly an option. I'd be particularly curious if anyone has any ideas where one would have to hike for the turns. I suppose this is what I had envisioned. We were considering climbing Hood, then skiing down as much as we could of the descent... Hmmm.

I was just up at Baker and you can still Road Shuttle a hundred or so vert on the way up to Artist's point, or ride several lines of Table. Point is there is no snow in Washington, check out Cooke City
