Monitor, Camera, or Me?

I just got a new monitor to replace the very, very bad 10+ year old monitor I was using. Also took a bunch of pics with my new camera yesterday. Looking at them today, it looks like the highlights are all blown out in a couple of them.

These pics have no technical merit and have not been retouched other than to resize them for screen display, but they are the ones I noticed the blown highlights in the most out of the ones I took:

Do the highlights look blown out on your monitor? If so, do you believe this is a problem with the camera metering some darker part of the pic and exposing for that, or...???

yes.....

Many camera's metering systems are fooled by a scene with a lot of greenery in it (trees, grass, etc) and will overexpose the photo. Trees will look okay, just lighter than they should be, but skies, snow etc may become blown out.

Get used to dialing in some exposure compensation is these situations, or shoot manual.

If your camera has a histogram, use it to try and catch the problem in the field and adjust accordingly.
