Upper Russian Lake Birthday TR (Pictures)
Arriving at the trail heawd we left John to distrbute and pack the food as Nate and I dropped off a shuttle car at the mouth of the Russian river upon arriving back at the trail head and finishing packingwe began to ride. It took a bit to get used to a 40 pound pack while riding but it wasn't too bad. The first four miles was sweet smooth singletrack that was very fast and very rolly and then the trail became inudated with cow parsenip and these nasty smelling white flowers that kept hitting me in the face the trail was kinda slow for a bit then it picked back up and we arrived at the lake we set up camp ate some stuff and biked down to the spot to fish and started fishing. We fished for 3 hours I hooked three but we decided to eat dinner. We cooked a smorgasborg of top ramen potatos hot dogs steak and sausages. Thin cut steak wrapped around some brekfest sausage wrapped in tinfoil and cooked in a fire then eaten as a sandwich is on of the best camp foods ever damn that was good. We then went to bed. After brekfast of homefries eggs salsa tortillas and sausage we started biking the 14 miles to the mouth of the russian about 5 miles in Nate gota flat and the CO2 cartridge that I brought was empty (doh) so john and I biked out leaving nate to walk and to try and get a pump to go help him. As we started up the trail he popped out of the woods after 10 miles of hiking slightly slower then us biking, he's a freak. Any way pitures.
