Anybody got a Stand Up Paddle Board? I am in the market. There are some beautiful boards out there, but I have no clue what I am looking for.
I am 5'10" about 190-195 lbs. I am thinking about a 10' or a 10'6".

demo before you buy....trust me.
talk about a stupid trend
Stupid trend in places with waves, yes.
No decent waves to speak of here on the Gulf, except during a hurricane.
I planned on demoing. The cost goes toward a purchase, so why not?
ghey.
eXXXtremely ghey

Pretty good crowd in oregon riding them now too but not sure I would want to be on one.

ocean sweeping is the new rollerblading.
I would never buy one, and don't even have the time to care about trying it out. But if I live on the Gulf I could see giving it a chance. What else are you going to do for exercise? I guess 'gator wrestling is always an option.
I see guys out on the point all the time. Our local ski shop owner has decided this is the way to save his shop. Hope he is right. I like having a place to bake my liners for free.
Did this for a few hours with a mate of mine who is a surf instructor. For aimless paddling up and down the coast, rivers etc on a sunny but flat calm day then SUP would be ok. For any day when a wave is gettable, then a long board would - IMHO - be a better option.
Oh, and carrying a giant board up the beach gets boring after about 10 yards. It's never comfortable to carry and you stand out a mile as someone who needs an ocean liner to catch waves.
(I need an ocean liner to catch waves, my ego prefers other beach goers not to know that though.)
