I can hardly wait, arthroscopic meniscus repair coming right up. Dr. Thorpe in Bellingham has gotten great reviews from everyone I've talked to so I think I'm in good hands. By noon I should be sitting in a recliner watching or dozing through movies while making sure I ingest enough pain meds. Must shower and sleep now.

I went under yesterday, just make sure you do all your cleaning, take the garbage out, dishes etc before you go in, it'll be a pain when you're gibbled. All the best!

I'm still alive! got out of the chair for the 2nd time in 12 hrs to pee. turns out there was more damage than expected. Besides the tear in the meniscus there was some debris from a complete break in it around one side. The fix is to clean the break then let blood clot there that will form a fibrous bit of cartilage. I was pretty out of it when he told me about this so I'll have to call the office after the holiday to make sure I have this straight. For six weeks I have to have my leg straight to bear weight so the process can finish. Otherwise I'll be able to bend it, just no weight. No work for two weeks at least. I jokingly said ski in August? He said maybe late Aug. I'll wait until next winter though.
They gave me scrip for vicodin and my wife talked them into one for percoset too. I'm going to have a little bite of food, take one and watch some more of the Twilight Zone Marathon then back to sleep. Pain has been minimal with meds and ice so I'm hoping to not need the meds by sometime tomorrow, or later today actually. I get to take off the bandage and shower in two days. I have my wife's old crutches and cane so I can get around the house pretty good.
Thanks for thinking of me. GoNads, good recovery to you, didn't know you were getting fixed now too. Pat, hope you're coming along well. I have pictures, maybe tomorrow I'll try to figure out how to post them.
fiddler - I'm hearing some things from you that are quite contradictory to the healing curve and restrictions on my meniscus repair.
Double check on all that, especially how soon you can get weight-bearing, when you're not fucked up on the meds.

No pain today, so no meds so far. 26 hours out and I'm moving around much better. Putting more weight on it while walking. Using the cane for stability and just in case. Bending while sitting. Although after sitting almost the whole time home, I'm standing at the computer with the keyboard raised up, feels good to be upright.
