I was just reading an article about cliff hucking in Skiing and the author started talking about Jamie Pierre. Besides making Jamie sound like a complete asshole (heard similar things myself), he mentions that Jamie attempted the US record - 160 ft- cliff huck last winter near Wolverine Cirque. Not only did he try it, he threw a lincoln off of it and stuck it. I must see this on film. ONS, anyone?
Oh yea, and he plans to do a 235 footer this winter on the backside of Targhee!:eek:
he goes big in Junkshow.
I was wondering the same thing, but I think he will definately kill himself jumping over 200 feet. Thats quite a step from 160...

No, he probably didn't. But it's been proven that once you drop acid and huck over 200 feet, it really doesn't seem all that much different than falling out of bed. 'Ceptin there ain't that many people that crack their sternum from the impact of falling out of bed.Quote:

I'm all for seeing sick cliff hucks, but how big is too big? I mean, are guys gonna start going SO big, they're shattering vertebrae to get a sick shot? Cause massive internal injuries from the compression?

I got 59.1 mph, but keep in mind that it's just the vertical component of the velocity, assuming he started at Vy = 0.

right, exactly. but hey, even 60mph is pretty damn fast when your coming to a dead stop. Just think about it, people who are properly restrained in cars that crash at 60mph usually die. This guys only restraints are his hopes that his knees wont blow out and that the snow will be soft, and according to my physics.....well.......it 'aint lookin too good.

yeah, he did. so i guess that if jamie pierre could find a sheer vertical drop of 200+ ft he might come out better than paul ruff... but still. There are so many things that can go wrong.
Jamie drops the 160 footer in High Life. I'm sure there was a clip of the week of it.
Secondly, when dropping cliffs that big, you don't try to land on your feet. It's all about landing on your back and rolling with the slope or something like that. At least that's what Jamie tried to tell me.

Agreed.
Jamie's ginormous High Life preview huck sure as hell didn't look like a lincoln.
We've got pics of it here. He lands on his head. I don't think it's 160, though. Hucks are like fish, they get bigger the more you talk about 'em.
