No kidding. It took me a couple of passes to decipher exactly what he was talking about. I can see why he was pissed though. Standing around doing nothing, while someone is in a head under pin situation is roughly equivalent to standing around after watching someone get buried by an avalanche and discussing the playoffs.Quote:

Yeah, the drop in question used to be a great boof, but the launch pad and the LZ have deteriorated fiercely over the past few years with high water events. I can see going over backwards helping her in the situation, but going over pointed downstream and in control might be a better option than rolling the dice backwards. Just sayin'. (not that you're advocating running nasties backwards)
The scenario does seem similar to riding the BC w/o avy gear and training/practice/the lowdown. Similar in regards to the unpreparedness to deal with a life-threatening situation; similar in regards to overall skill, experience, and knowledge required to safely and successfully navigate the run; and similar in that it gives local kayakers a bad name within the community when something does happen (like SAR being called out for every stubbed toe). A bad scene all around. It is only a matter of time...
