Possibly JONG question about Action Beach

Hey guys,
I'm usually over in Sprockets, but need a little surfer advice. When I lived in Oceanside and actually surfed, I bought a 7'0" Action Beach board. I've used it maybe 30 days total and have not surfed in nearly two years. I'd like to post the board on Craigslist, but have no idea what to ask for it. It's in good shape with two very minor dings. I tried to look up Action Beach on the interweb, but their site isn't up. Are they still around? I paid $230 for the board. What's the usual depreciation? Thanks!

I'm a total surfing jong (4 days so far) but I've been reading the SD craigslist way more than I should shopping for my first board. (I'm looking for a longboard in the 8'6"-9' range to start with - I think your board would be too short for me to learn on.) I'd start with at least $200. The only things listed on there for less than that are soft tops or short boards with stuff significantly wrong with them.

As a caveat, if someone with some actual knowledge of this stuff suggests otherwise, then listen to them.

It all depends on the board. Is it an egg of fun shape? Or is it a mini gun. Especially in SD, you will probably get more for the egg. If the board is properly cared for - kept out of the sun in a cool space, and dings are immediately fixed - then you could get a pretty penny.

And LTK - if it is an egg and you weigh in at 200# or less, 7' is plenty. You may be surprised how much faster you progress on a fun shape as opposed to a long board. Think egg=SUV and longboard=Caddy. It is just much more versatile.

You are seeing soft tops for less than $200?? Anything around $100? I'd actually love to have one around for multiple reasons - teaching friends, crappy small rocky days, just cause you do not need to care for it.

Hrmm, well, I pulled the trigger on a 9' longboard before I read your reply. Most of the people I talked to about it said that I would still want to have a long board in the long run, "for smaller days." Oh well. Shortboards are pretty cheap, esp if they've got repairs or 80s styling, so I'll probably just jump straight to one of those once I feel comfortable catching bigger waves.

You can definitely get soft-top longboards for under $200. Close to $100 is totally doable. Shorter lengths are even cheaper...
