Dog/Puppy Stoke Thread
It's a slow day here at TGR, so I figured I'd get some puppy stoke on.
My pup's name is Asia, but if I had my way, she'd be:
Jaws, 'cuz she has eaten through a few black Kongs already.
Or:
Backhoe, for her digging habits.
Or:
Stihl, after the chiansaws, 'cuz that's what she sounds like when she snores. :D
Let's hear 'em ... throw down, ya sluts.
-
How about Yasser or Osama?
Unless you train that dog, she'll terrorize you for years.
-
Workin' on it, pal. It's slow going with her since she's a bit older and wasn't trained too well by the first owners.

I have 2 Great Danes. One is a male at 175 lbs and is named Zanik.
I call him LUGNUT. Even though he is pretty smart, he plays dumb so the standard for him is not set too high.
I also call him "MOMO dog", as he won't go near a beer or any "other" stuff. He IS from Utah.
My female is named Kaya. ;) She is 110 lbs. Both are Black. I call her "The Baby", cause she is. How would you like to cuddle up to a huge dog and sqeeze the love out of her and she sits there and eats it up. She is no where close to "MOMO" dog. At keggers in college, she would sneak up behind people and drink their beers. She was usaually toasted by game time. Its really cool to have a dog that like to tailgate. She also has pulled "stuff" off the table and ate it ALL. That could have been the funniest thing I have ever seen.
If I could find the damn homepage, I post some monster pics. Ill have to ask the wife where it is now.
Zanik and Kaya, both appropriately named.

One of my friends decided to let his Kid (Quentin,4yrs) name the new lab they got.
He told him, now Q, think about what he looks like and what you think about when you see him, Q said ok, he was real serious and sat here for awhile thinking about it, and then it came to him.
Truck.
Htat's the name of a now 3 yr old black lab, pretty fitting, now he'sa pretty big.
My dog's name is Kiesha, no particular reason she just looked like one.

My family had two dogs until recently. The one we had to put down was named Aspen mostly due to her coat color. She was a dead grass colored chessapeake and her fur was similar to the yellow of an aspen in the fall, although not quite as bright.
Our other dog is named Peava. My dad, who is polish named her after the polish word for beer. Only he changed the o to an a at the end to make it more feminine since Peava is a female. Peava is a chocolate chessapeake.

Aspen is a good dog name. Had a friend in college with a dog named Wabash. Also a good name. And the ubiquitous Sierra. Also a good dog name.
Here's the rub... people in Colorado should NEVER name their dog Aspen. Just as people in California should avoid Sierra or Shasta. Midwesterners can call their dog Wabash as long as they don't live in the Midwest. See the pattern? :D
I have two great names on tap for my next dogs. But you can't have em. :p

Knowing your affinity for tunes of all sorts, I'm gonna guess Garcia and Marley for your next pups, Pinner.
-
Nope, but good guesses! My current Labradog is named Dylan, but I got him named. It'd be too corny to have three dogs named for old rockers.
Besides Marley and Tosh are sooo played out. And if I meet another godamn Golden Retriever named Bailey or Kirby I'm gonna shoot it.
-
Paco = my chocolate labradog. Because he looks like a Paco and is my pride and joy.

Every good dog thread needs pics of good dogs!

We had:
A golden retriever named Beandip. They shared the same IQ.
Now have a dog (on permanent load to the in-laws) named Trout. 140lbs of the smartest mutt I've known. Except he bites.
-
Zeke,
Half Dingo half German Shepard, all killer, should be ONS dog.
-
-
Names of (other) dogs I've known:
Zeb, Zeke, Zeus, Woodrow, Doc, Bliss, Tyler, Tate, Bear, Rudy, Rose, King, Rock, Annie, Arnie, Ralph, Blackie, Rocket, Thor...
-
I like dogs named like people. I have two pals with dogs named Joe and Steve, respectively.
well at least I think it's funny.

My family is sort of nautical-based. My uncle wanted to name their first dog Poseidon, but that was a mouthful. Poseidon had a mortal son named Theseus, which, somehow, was more acceptable.
They soon got another dog, a chick, whom they named Phaedra, after Theseus's wife.
Theseus and Phaedra were beautiful Great Danes... I'll try to find a pic of them.
For some reason, this is a fantastic thread.
-
We named our doggie Pirate....ARR but most of the time everyone just calls the beast Pie... Not to strange of a name now that I think about it. He is 130lbs of pure beast.
-
Sophie - love of my life. She came with the name since I got her from the pound, but appropriately, it's a word for Wisdom in Greek. She's quite the smart doggy.
-
dog thread *sigh* - bummin me.
-
Bummer for sure dude .. maybe recalling memories will help you grieve.

My dog's name is Zeke, he was born in the early 90's. My favorite sport figure at the time was the man who brought the Pistons two rings. Although hated by many, I named my dog after him.
I also have a son born in 1997, his name is Brett Michael. I seem to have this thing with naming objects with sports figure's names. (And no, I didn't name him after the lead singer of an 80's hair band.)

My first dog was a second generation Missy, or Missy Jr. This was a carry over from my parents, apparently Missy was the female dog name back then.
Second dog was a half german shepard / half golden named Black Magic, or Magic. She was all black, and we got her around Halloween.
When Magic was 12, we got a half border collie / half unknown (maybe some beagle, maybe some Rott) farm dog. I wanted to name her Marley, but my dad the wise man told me that it was trite and played. (So very right.) Her name is Nesta. The only problem being that people who dont get it ask me why I named my dog after iced tea. (Robert Nesta Marley)
