Ok, it's not a "gadget". My dad bought me a couple of these things. They are U shaped magnet things that hold your rod up against the vehicle so that the wind doesn't blow it over, you step on it, slam it in the car door, etc.
Idea = BRILLIANT!

Thanks 72twenty, i'm getting one for this summer. I always have peoples rods blowing over and scratching my car. So far none broken but it's only a matter of time.
I always keep a couple of these in the truck.

I think it would be cool to get 2 of those, drill a hole in the outward facing sides, then get a bendable rod and thin fabric and make a portable changing room hanging off the side of your vehicle.
I know it sounds overly modest but sometimes dropping trou is not as easy as it would seem, and this would be a good fix, and applicable in many sports.

Do you have an SUV? If so, get some fabric or a tarp and cut it so that you can drape it over your open tailgate to make like a little room under it - it's much cheaper than those tent things they sell to go off the back of SUV's.

I usually just fold out my gas-cap door and lean my rod against it. In the picture the gas door thing is right next to the rod magnet!
