Motorcycles have always scared the shit outta me, ever since my folks told me stories from their days working in the ER. They are both a doctor and nurse. One of my dad's med school buddies had his leg ripped off at the hip- that was all I needed to hear(no skiing after that).

This is why you wear a full-face helmet (and leathers/Cordura) at all times while on a motorcycle.
I would be dead if not for my full-face -- I have highway surfed on the chin bar. But I walked away.
I have had many motorcycles.
I want many more motorcycles.
I didn't even look.

All the motorcycles are dangerous stories do nothing to cool my desire for a new Italian mistress.
Dress for success: full leathers or cordura, boots, gloves, and a good full-face helmet.
Add in some advanced instruction and a few track days and you're good to go.
I saw that pic before, linked from a motorcycle saftey site in Colorado, to show what happens when you crash without a helmet. That was what I read. No idea if the guy survived but a haunting pic for sure. Leathers and helmet always.
I want a bike real bad too, but my wife keeps hearing horror stories from all the guys that she works with that ride bikes. I can't help if they sniff glue and go ride a motorcycle.
If you ride, you will someday go down. The statistics are pretty clear on this.

yeah, but racers don't get run over by macks after they go down or bounce off gaurdrails and cars. But I agree with you on the protective gear, it's saved me a lot of skin and trouble.Quote:
