Colorado Mt Guyot: Beta on this chute?

After chatting it up with some folks recently, I've regained an interest in this chute (Lookers left centered) :

This is a southeast facing chute off Mt Guyot. I've searched just about everywhere I could think of, and I've not found any beta on this. I've looked down the chute in early summer, and it looks pretty darn scary, as it appears the dogleg does not have a bench, and that is a long fall down.

1. Anyone know what it's called?
2. Anyone skied/climbed it, or have any beta on this?

I go hiking and camping up there in the summer and I've always eyed that one. How about that optional entrance down the little couloir at the top (skier's right)? :eek:

That face is really steep. You can not see the the line from the top. If you go, you should check it from the bottom first or climb it. Have not skied it, but would really like to this spring. Been thiniking about it for years too.

I think its called "the swan dive", but I could be wrong, and I'm too lazy to look it up. Stan Wagon skied it a while back. Check it out:

The line under discussion is NOT swan dive.

id be up for a little exploration from the bottom once the snow sets up a bit more.

Hey Nick, cool photo and interesting perspective. Were was it shot from? Major Tele-photo lens I presume... looks almost like it was taken from the air.

Hmmm, I might be down for Baldy on Sunday. Kind of waiting on the the snowfall, warm up and consequent avy danger. I would rather not do a hike and have to turn around...again.

The Descent you last posted, is refered to as "The Swan Dive" by Stan Wagon.

The original line inquired about is sometimes refered to as "Sick Fuck"
I would highly reccomend climbing this route before descending it.

That Aspect of Guyot Heats up early and sees a lot of action coming down from above.

Dropping in from the summit after ascending the playground side of Guyot is not a wise option.

The original line in question is extremely steep up top and would be a blind entry with very few hospitable options once you commit.

The exposure at the top is extreme. Once in the chute, the exposure is still very high. Do not enter from the ridge; only ski after climbing and be ready to chop out a platform to bail when the conditions fail. Do no ski except in the most prime of prime conditions and timing. I cannot emphasize that enough for this solar affected line, especially if your goals include any of the following: having fun, actually skiing, and living. Be ready to deal awith lots of slough and large formations of extremely steep ice in your line.

I tried to ski the chute an old hippie named himay showed me 20 years ago. Himay called it "granDE cojone". It angles to the left or from south to north.for 100 ft then meets with a large couloir flowing back to skiers right. In my opinion the top is just about unskiable unless you had a perfect storm of... conditions, luck, ability and testicular largess. It is similiar in style to the exit couloir off the aguille du midi. I live very close to this line in breck..hit me up if u want to ski it. It makes shit for brains and the coal field and hypo needle look easy (the first 100 ft). Just sayin. 970485183 one
