Just bought this frame on ebay. I was told it was a STS, I know that it's a LTS, don't know what year. I think it's around a 97, can anyone tell me which model?

The STS is carbon, The LTS is aluminum. As far as model year. I'd need to see the coponents... If they're not updated. How about some pics of the fork, handlebar/stem and cranks. That might help. ttyl, Aceman
It looks similar to this 98 LTS 4000. There is an LTS 3000 DS model but it has no picture. The other LTS models have different frame styles if you look at the pictures. The seat tube bar is curved in other models and that support brace is not there either.
It's also hard to do a component match based on your pictures.

I would be saying that it is a 3000, i had a 4000 at one stage, cant remeber it properly, but was sure that there were differences
That's an LTS-2, circa 1997.
The LTS Team/ LTS-1 was 6000 series AL and had a titanium upper linkage and big ass ovalized downtube, slong with Air/Oil Noleen shock. The frames were the same, the difference (other than the sticker) were full XTR and Judy DH (some came with SL's,) vs. Judy XC and XT component gruppo on the LTS 1. Same goes for the RTS Team vs. RTS-1, and the Zaskar & Zaskar LE.
The LTS-2 was 7005 Al, had Deore LX components, a forged aluminum rear upper link and the non-reservoir Rock Shox rear shock. Also Indy SL, IIRC.
The LTS-3 had STX-RC component gruppo, a rubber (ala Pro-Flex) rear shock attached to a stamped/bar stock upper rear link, and an Indy TT or something or other.
The original STS was thermoplastic, not carbon. I believe it was offered as a frame only. Later iterations (Lobo, 1000DS, etc..) were offered as a complete rig and were carbon.
I'm pretty certain the 2000/3000/4000 series all had the bent seat tube and updated (squared off) rear linkage, except the cr-mo ones.
Correction: The "cloth" was/is still carbon, even if the plastic resin was a thermoplast type (weakens/melts at high temp) instead of the usual thermosetting (hardens/solidifies at high temp) resin type.Quote:

Also, between the aluminium LTS and the STS versions, there was an intermediate step in the evolution; the LTS Carbon. It had the same carbon tubing as the STS, but also the titanium 'paisley'-shape shock mount of the earlier LTS models. She's still a beauty.
