Help: Mounting Non Atomic Bindings to Atomic Skis

Just picked up Atomic Beta Race 10.22 real cheap. No plates. Just predrilled holes for the plates. Thinking about mounting Solomon bindings directly to ski. 4 screws in heel and 4 in toe pieces. Bindings would sit above center channel, screwed into raised sides on either side of channel. Bindings would sit flush on raised sides with space from channel under bindings, almost like a bridge . Any body try this ? Any thoughts ? :confused:

Will the bindings hold if scrwed directly into the raised profile on either side of the chanells. It would be in the same spot (1 or 2mm forward or back) of existing holes for plates. Does anything need to be put under the binding to fill the space ?

You need a binding that fits into the channel. S900 or Look Px series fit. I wouldn't try to bridge the channel.

Go ahead and mount the Salomon on the channels. Make sure that every screw is tight... like a tiger.

Thank you, just what I needed to know. The channel is very narrow. a binding wouldn't sit in it. It's probably only an inch to inch and a half wide.. I would probably have to raise it up in the middle so the binding is supported form underneath and sits flush across the channel sides and the homemade support.

Thank you , Thank you. I read the threads you referenced and it's a similiar situation but not exactly. I will give it a shot. If I screw up at least the skis were cheap.

I am happy to report that I mounted up the Solomon bindings directlyy to the skis and it worked like a charm. Tested them out this past weekend (2days) and they worked great with no problems.
