Taking the FE Exam this spring...looking for a review/study book. Any suggestions? seem to be a bunch of them out there.
I think this may have been discused already back in the thread about books for the PE. As for me, it's been forever since I took the EIT/FE and I can't remember what I used
After three years of being out of college, I passed soley using lindeburg's FE Review Manual. http://www.ppi2pass.com/ppi/PPIShop?pr=FERM2&ct=FEEXAM
If you're fresh from school, no worries.
lindeburg's books are pretty damn good...
damn this is an expensive exam...here goes another $70.
$50 to apply
$125 to register
$14 test reference book
$70 for a review manual
$259 + a few bucks for a little calculator
guess it's worth it in the long run...
How long have you been out of school? It was cake when I took it while in school.
The exam is easy and the passing rate/grading curve is laughable. I didn't open a book and passed. If you're right out of school don't bother studying. Anybody that takes four times to pass is an idiot and shouldn't be hired.
montana state requires all students to take the test--it is a semester long review class and then the test is taken, i thought this was standard but i guess its pretty unique to msu--just thought i'd share that
hoping it's as easy as it sounds...
I'll support the Lindeburgh book recommendation...just took the FE last April after 8 years out of school. The study problems in that book were way harder than the test...but study those problems. If you can get through that, you'll fly through the test. I had the morning session done in 3 hours and then had an hour to double check a few things.
Now I'm looking at the PE this coming April...that shit looks way harder. So far I haven't studied a single thing I've used, or foresee using, in my job. This one might kick my ass a few times.
haha yeah, i expect to be paying more for the PE. i just try not to think about that one yet.
what kind of engineers are all of you? i'm a ME.
everyone I knew in school passed it first try while still in school.
I decided to fly to Long Beach for the Grand Prix that weekend instead :)
not a civil or in structures so no real use for FE/PE for me
Unless you're planning on practicing in the infrastructure industry in someway, meaning Civil (and related sub-disciplines), Electrical (Power or Controls), or Mechanical (HVAC or Plumbing); the PE is little more than something to hang on your wall.
