Moved to Scottsdale last week for good, I've been working down here off and on for the better part of a year, but made it permanent just recently.
Oh, and Thompson's wishes are coming true, Phoenix passed up Philly to be the #5 city in the nation just recently, and it's one of the fastest growing.

A professional downhill mountain biker from Durango was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of maintaining a "very sophisticated" marijuana-growing operation.
Myles Rockwell, 31, was booked into the La Plata County Jail after authorities seized 52 "high quality" sinsemilla plants from his home at 1385 Avenida del Sol in Durango. Rockwell has been released on $10,000 bail.
When contacted at his home Wednesday night, Rockwell had little to say. "Hopefully things turn out OK," he said.
Rockwell has competed in mountain bike races around the world. He won a World Cup downhill championship in 2000 in Spain.
On Tuesday, investigators for the Southwest Drug Task Force, along with uniformed officers from the Durango Police Department and La Plata County Sheriff's Office, executed a search warrant at Rockwell's home.
Inside the home, investigators found a "hydroponic and fully automated indoor marijuana cultivation" operation, according to a news release from the task force. They seized 52 "high quality" sinsemilla plants.
"The seized marijuana was determined to be of extremely high quality," according to the news release. Investigators estimate the street value at more than $200,000.
Investigators credit sheriff's Deputy Jerry Little with discovering the cultivation during a routine contact.
I always thought Myles Rockwell seemed like a cool guy.
Myles is a great guy, but maybe not the sharpest tool in the shed.

On Tuesday, the Carbondale Town Council unanimously approved a resolution that calls for the repeal of all “unconstitutional provisions” in the controversial act.
“Every person has the right to be free from unreasonable search and seizure,” states the resolution, which was drafted by Carbondale group Wake Up Now. “Every person has a right to equal protection under the law.”
The USA PATRIOT Act — or the Uniting & Strengthening of America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act — was passed in October 2001, in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.
While some see the act as a necessary tool to protect the United States against terrorists, others think the act goes too far.
The American Civil Liberties Union opines that the act “takes away checks on law enforcement and threatens the very rights and freedoms that we are struggling to protect. For example, without a warrant and without probable cause, the FBI now has the power to access your most private medical records, your library records, and your student records … and can prevent anyone from telling you it was done.”
Wake Up Now member Richard Veit, of Carbondale, calls the USA PATRIOT Act an “assault against the Bill of Rights.”
“They’re always trying to add more and more power to the central government,” he said. “We just wanted to stand up and be counted, that’s all.”
Veit also pointed out that Carbondale is far from the only town to pass a resolution opposing the act; it is merely the latest.
“As of last week, 300 communities in the country have done the same thing,” he said. “So it’s not as if we’re lone wolves in this.”
I think my brother still has an arrest warrant for failure to appear in Glenwood Springs.

Wait a second... was he that dude that went skinny dipping in the hot springs pool, got caught by the security guards, then ran off without his clothes (leaving behind his wallet), and was found by local police hiding under a parked car? I think it was in mid-January or so. We had a warm spell then, but the temps still dipped down into the low 20's or so. Lying naked on cold, hard asphalt does not sound pleasant.Quote:

Caddy, although Phoenix is a flat, hot, dry hell, you do have the girls at ASU to stare at. You really can't complain about starting at hot girls in halter tops and tight shorts all year round. You right in phoenix or outside the city? My uncle(who works at ASU for the sole reason to stare at hot girls) lives in Tempe. Seems like a nice place, if you like the desert.
It's not so bad, and down here your neck sure gets tired. They walk by left and right, but I'm as close to married without a ring as you can get, so I'm just window shopping.

GLENWOOD SPRINGS — Hot springs and cold weather don’t mix when you’re naked.
On Tuesday, Dec. 2 at around 3:30 in the morning, Glenwood Springs police were dispatched to the Hot Springs Pool for a report of a security guard chasing after a nude man who allegedly trespassed at the pool.
“We were able to pick him out of the crowd,” Glenwood Springs police chief Terry Wilson joked.
According to the police report, [name of person withheld] 29, of Glenwood Springs was chased by the pool guard as he ran west down 6th Street.
When police arrived at the I-70 Amoco, they began looking under cars and behind trees for [witheld], when one of the officers reportedly caught a whiff of booze on [witheld]’s breath.
“He was the only nude man hiding under a van still wet from the pool,” Wilson said.
According to Accuweather records, it was about 20 degrees Fahrenheit that night.
[witheld] was arrested on suspicion of trespassing and taken to Garfield County Jail.
Wilson guessed that eight to 10 people get caught trespassing at the pool each year.
“It’s not uncommon that they don’t have a swimsuit while they’re there, but it is uncommon that they leave the area in that condition,” Wilson said.
